Yea, and it’s a shame because the guy has physical tools that a lot of NFL receivers would envy. Maybe the CS can add him too a few packages a week to make things easier for him to digest. Again, though, that would indicate it’s a skill issue (not a will issue) and I don’t think they’d call him out publicly on that.
While I get your point, I also don't think we should do that just because he can't figure it out. Keep in mind all of these guys are learning the same playbook. A rookie, Elijah Moore, learned it no problem. Why simplify things for one guy? Mims must really be an idiot. I love his talent and abilities but he really must be struggling in the mental arena
We're deep at wide receiver. I get it. But if Mims goes onto another team to be 1000yd receiver (more likely than Crowder, Cole, probably Moore, definitely Berrios and Jeff Smith). His upside is way higher than everyone on the team maybe except for Davis. If it's mental he needs reps. Mims isn't hurting Zach. The O-Line is...who seems don't have it mentally either.
If you don't see how a WR not knowing which route to run would hurt the QB then there's really no point in anyone debating this with you.
No Shannahan offense is short fast quick wideouts. It's never been scheme for big lanky long wide receivers. So be it. Calling a NFL WR drafted in the 2nd round not understanding the playbook is the answer when you guys are not even coaching anybody is just purely making this up. who said this? Can you quote it verbatim from a reliable source? You can't. This is LaFleur not knowing how to use him as much as he doesn't understand the playbook. Simple as that.
Only way I’d trade Mims Is if he’s not buying in, which doesn’t sound like is the case. All accounts say he is working hard and if this is true there is just no good reason to trade him now and you let the kid continue to work hard and develop. What would you get for a Denzel Mims that would be worth it? He’s clearly talented, so develop him and let’s see.
The "Mims is working hard" stuff is total coach-speak, it means nothing imo. That was just window dressing on them clearly being unhappy with him. Cimini was reporting that Mims had some sort of feud going with LaFleur on the sidelines during the Panthers game. It's not looking good.
I saw that too but only from @nfltraderumors and they are always so wrong I almost expect mims to get an extension
There's just nOoOoOoOo way in the world that maybe Denzel Mims just sucks, right? Has to be the coaching staff, LaFleur, weird vendettas, favoritism for Braxton Berrios, etc.
