I'm half tempted to pick Mims up on the waiver wire this week. If there was ever a moment where he was going to arrive, this would have to be it. Because, in all likelihood, this is it for him in terms of chances, at least with the Jets.
IN 2021 Mims played 8 games and 154 snaps with Zach. 14 targets, 4 catches. That averages to 1.8 targets and 0.5 catches a game. Not saying its anyone's fault, but they have played together.
With the predicted weather tomorrow don't expect a big passing game and lots of targets to any of the receivers, unless Denver can stop the running game. Receivers are going to need their extra sticky gloves.
19 snaps a game, makes you then think why he wasn't playing more than 1/4 of the game (actually less than a 1/4 really). I think the question is still pretty valid.
Please keep that list to yourself. I’ve already come up with 3 names in the mind and none of them make me happy.
We just cant stand having success. I smell a potential disconnect between players and coaches bruing, hope I'm wrong. The outburst of Q and the tale of two Jets WRs who wanted to be great contributors in 2022 seem to have some common elements. First of, that level of desire is expected from any passionate player worth its soul. Kudos to all. Winners want to be in the action and the ball in their hands. But you don't dictate your role to CS, you can suggest and work options. And if unhappy about it you talk to the coaches face to face in private or even request a trade in private. You don't ever do a media BS bomb to attract attention. Now to the facts. Mims was never given the chance to sniff the field this season. That is a fact. You can argue that MLF doesnt like him, that he wasn't running crisp routes, that he didn't know the playbook, what ever floats your boat. But that's all hear say. All we witnessed with the eye test was a decent pre season and training camp, wiliness to block, play special teams and go after tough contested catchers. all he wanted was to be on the field. He was not given the chance. Moore on the other hand was one of top darlings going into training camp, he did all the videos, he said all the right things, how much he loved his teammates, you name it. He was front and center in the starting line up, and life entering the season was grand. Unlike Mims, plagued with injuries, he had a great season last year and was projected to be a forcing force this year. He was a starter from day one and given every chance to shine. But as the season progressed and we started to win with Zach things took a weird turn. Mims remained grounded of course, but Moore disappeared on the field of play. While Davis, Wilson and Berrios plus the running game were steady contributors it looked like Moore was used more like a decoy to keep the secondaries honest. So he complained, which IMO is justified, but complained to the public, which is totally irresponsible notwithstanding Marshall dumb tirade. As a result, he is hurting the team. He is just to good of a player not to be on the field and be a healthy scratch. He screwed his teammate's, those he said he loved. Now Mims gets his chance, how ironic is that. He gets his chance over a healthy scratch. I like Moore a lot, but wish Mims nothing but the utmost success. Whatever is best for the team. On a large note this game might tell us plenty more about MLF game plan and personal ego than Mims talent. How he uses Mims in the offense, recognizing Mims is a different player, will be interesting to me, and if he never calls his number, keeps the same game plan come hell or high water, well, it might very well cast a shadow to a coaching staff that is unwilling to listen and put players in the best position to succeed. If outburst of emotions by players like Q, Moore Mims and others keep mounting, I consider those indicators of a disconnect between what players see needed to be successful and the play calling. Hope I'm dead wrong.
Nope. Mims is gonna be playing the Lou Gehrig role. Moore is going to be Wally Pipp. He's going to regret opening his immature mouth.
I been thinking about this also... Where there is smoke there is fire. The fact he hasn't seen the field is ludicrous and all the comments about putting players in a position to be successful is, IMHO, BS... What I expect mabe a couple of throws Mimisway and I suspect he will be used more for his blocking and decoy.... but what is he beats his man a few times and never sees the ball...to me that would speak volumes about this OC and the CS. BTW- I was at a club function last night and met a NFL Line Coach # 45, Semin (as in Jerry Semin's son). He worked his way up through the ranks - wouldn't let his dad get him into the NFL. He did big ten, arena FB, europe and made it after 20 years of grinding... He will be doing the Jets/NE ganme in a few weeks. he had some stories ....
