He was one of my favorite players in the league. I liked him alot coming out of Oklahoma State, but anyway this is a huge loss. I liked his style, his confidence, and he was generally known as a good guy. It's pretty bad this happened, I feel horrible and will send a prayer to his family and the Broncos family.

The police are looking for people he and his friends were talking to or ran into the night club. Somebody may have gotten angry at them and followed them in the limo. Or it could be just a case of road rage if the limo cut somebody off. That happens in Denver, people getting shot for cutting somebody off. I heard of someone who had a car pull next to them at at light and point a gun at them without shooting.

When I saw this on Mike & Mike, I was very shocked, especially since I watched the Denver and SF game...........

Why in the hell was Williams out in the first place? To celebrate the New Year? Just hours earlier, his team just sufferred one of the worst losses in the history of the franchise and he is partying out in public? This only confirms what I known all along. The fans take losses harder than the players.

I'm surprised so many players still attend night clubs. Nothing good can come out of it, lately, especially if your an NFL player. RIP. He was a rising star.

Terrible news, he was a rising player too. Hopefully those responsible are caught because this is just a disgusting act.

    Due WTF!!!??

    Are you Kidding me??

    Totally horrible news.. Unreal...

I wonder if the killer knew exactly who was in there and it was more of a hit.
    Either because:
someone lost a bunch of Money,
    They dissed somebody,
    The Chick was an Escort,
The 2nd Guy was a Bad dude to be around and who the hit was aimed for.
    The Limo Driver was involved.

    I mean something,
I just can't believe that this is random... Maybe has nothing to do with it being a "Dirty" Situation but this can't be random.

Yeah, because the team lost, the players should've been too depressed to go out and party for New Year's Eve. Come on now, that's just silly.

And more importantly, condolences to all those who knew and cared for Darrent.

    I totally agree!

These guys have lives. The season was over, They have the right to do as they please. It's friggin New Years Day!!

What pisses me off is when some reports who bitch when players carry around Licensed Guns...LICENSED!!!
IMO, They come off as racist when they say that it is a thug or hip hop mentality.

This is why I have NO ISSUE when a Millionaire athlete carries a weapon. Yes there are a few "Bad seeds" but why is it any different when any other millionaire can carry to protect himself?

I got up and saw this and I was sick... it is really sad, I can only imagine what his friends , family and teammate are going through. Supposedly there was an altercation in a nighthclub and this person who shot them tracked them down and shot them. They are now saying Javon Walker was at the nightclub with him..... wow this really could have been worse.

Williams is the 2nd Denver Pro Athlete to be shot in the last year, Nuggets and former NC State star Julius Hodge was shot on a highway earlier in the year. I love Denver one of my favorite cities but this shit needs to stop....

    28 years earlier-
Lyman Bostock of the California Angels was the victim of a drive-by shooting. In 1978, he was killed at the age of 27. Like Williams, Bostock was a promising player. He batted .311 in his four major league seasons and had a big 1977 campaign with the Twins, batting .336 with 104 runs scored and 90 runs batted in.
Bostock was not the intended target. He was in the backseat of his uncle's car. The target was a woman who Bostock had known for less than a half hour.
Bostock was murdered the last week or the next-to-last week of the 1978 season. Eerily similar.
