If there is anyone out there stupid enough to still believe anything he tweets, this tweet I posted should turn them away. I'll attempt at making the avy when I get home.
Gaytriots fans are singing this song: Oh Randy well you came and you gave without taking But they sent you away oh Randy Well you kissed me and stopped me from shaking And I need you today oh Randy.
Would have saved Italian Seafood some time to have simply written the guy's name in the first place, right? RichMiano is guilty of this type of thing, too. A few years ago he said he watched the NFL draft with a former NFL player. He left us some a couple clues about the guy as if RichMiano wanted us to figure out the guy's identity. Problem was, we were not in a trivia thread. I then posted who I thought the player might be and RichMiano did not respond. He also once stated that he had sex with an actress before she became famous and that he met her at the Jersey shore. I mentioned somebody who it could be. RichMiano said my guess was good, but I was wrong. He never noted the woman. More recently, he talked about having a personal relationship with one of the guys who played in the first fantasy football league. The identity of the guys in that league can be found. I know I have the list somewhere in a book or magazine article. You can also likely find it online. In other words, the participants in that initial league is not a top secret matter.
I was not arguing his point. Here's the deal. If you post something as fact and it is not a fact, there's a possibility that I will see it and point out the error.
I guess I could have, it's not like he was a household name or anything so I don't think it would have made much difference. The point was he played in 17 games, which I didn't think had been done before, and according to the list posted it hadn't. I wasn't even aware that more guys had done it since. It's one of those deals where if I didn't know the guy I'd have never noticed he played in 17 games that year, dropping his name doesn't really add to or subtract from the point. I'm surprised anyone even figured out who it was that fast.
To me, and maybe this is only me, but to me, when anyone writes or says that he/she knows a famous or semi-famous person and does not indicate the person by name, it comes across as bragging. However, if someone says they are personal friends of Bill Parcells or John Madden or Tom Brokaw it does not come across as bragging. If that is weird to you, then it's weird to you. What can I tell you?
If you read the post right above this one, I think the issue here is bragging. Then, when you give clues and you make someone do work, even if it is for 30 seconds, and then you still do not reveal the person it becomes annoying. Now, on to you. Screw a PM. I'll do this publically. Two times you have sent me private messages that do not mesh with how you act towards me publically. I wonder about this. Do you want me to stay in character and blast you on the board when you make posts like the above one? Or shall I ignore the crap and realize that publically you are an asshole and that the real man behind your TGG user name and character is the one who has private messaged me on occasion?
Everyone is entitled to their own thought process. From my end, I recalled the situation as it came to me, as in a guy I knew played 17 games in one season. Again, I only know this tidbit because I know the guy, maybe that's why it came out that way. Personally I don't think saying I know a guy who played football 20 years ago is bragging, it's random draw. If I had grown up on the other side of town I wouldn't know him from a hole in the wall, it's not an accomplishment of any sort for me. Also, there is a Chris Singleton who played major league baseball and I think now does TV, so if you just throw that name out there it can be confusing.
You, specifically, I don't consider to be a braggart. It's just that for some reason, and I don't even know how to explain it, but when someone says they know someone and give clues about the person and then does not reveal a name, it's off-putting to me. Ehh, so maybe it's not so much bragging, but being very annoying to do that.
Through years of posting on this site, it has become pretty clear to me that many people go here to blow off steam. For the most part, you can be a doucebag to others and get away with it here. Of the handful of message boards which I post at on a regular basis this is the only one where I can act like a jerk. That kind of thing does not fly at the other sites and is actually why I like them more. The problem is, they all have far fewer the number of people. In turn, I post more here than at the other sites and engage in nonsense here as much as the next guy.
I can see that. In this case my post was pretty short and to the point, I mentioned the one relevant fact to the discussion. If I thought anyone still knew who he is I'd probably have just mentioned him by name perhaps.
