My friend did that, a guy I went to school with. In 1993 he played for the Patriots, got cut and picked up by the Dolphins the same week, missed both bye weeks and appeared in 17 games. Moss can only tie him.
Here are the guys who have played in 17 games in one season 1993 Chris Singleton NE (8 games) MIA (9 games) 1995 Dexter Carter SF (7 games) NYJ (10 games) 2004 Micah Ross CAR (10 games) SD (7 games) 2004 Jerry Rice OAK (6 games) SEA (11 games) 2009 Will Witherspoon STL (6 games) PHI (11 games)
Yeah, grew up with him, played HS hoops together. He had a twin brother of about equal ability who got cancer while they were at Arizona or he might have been drafted too. He got better but never played pro ball. Good guys, even though Chris played for the two teams I hate most.
^ Yeah, I vaguely remember the story. I grew up in a UCLA household, but those Dick Tomey teams had fantastic defenses in the Desert Swarm days. The biggest success came later, but the Singleton brothers had an LA Times article about them.
The fact that they were two blue chippers being recruited as one was a story and of course when Kevin got sick that was too, they were seniors by then and one or both of them were All-Pac 10 with a shot to be drafted. Chris was drafted #8 overall by New England in 1990 but those teams were awful and while he had a good career he never probably lived up to where he was drafted.
Welker,Edelman,White Chocolate. The New Smurfs on the Block. Beli is going Run and Shoot....Up the Completion Percentage, Run 7 yard routes to take advantage of the Polian rules. Ball Control Offense.
Hard to believe that people still view Moss as an elite WR after watching him play this year. The combination of Favre's "gunslinging" and Moss' laziness/inabilty to protect the QB from INTs could lead to some historic numbers up in Minnesota.
