It was from the merger in 1970. The Lions first 3 or 4 win season in the current string was 2001, so they are 6 years out from that season with no playoff appearances. They are 5 years out from 2002 with no playoff appearances and they have not yet made the playoffs this season. If they make it this year they will be a 3 time entry in the last 6 years with an average of 4 years until they made the playoffs. If they don't they'll just add to the legend. As I recall there were like 5 teams that had made the playoffs very quickly after a terrible season and 15 who waited a fairly long time, with one team (the Saints in the 70's and 80's I think) waiting 18 seasons to get back to the playoffs after they bottomed out.
Based on our record up to this point my evulation of the NYJs way before the season started is right on. Thanks for the recap
Not that I want to pee on this backyard party, but everyone will survive the week if we keep all arguments to football and soften the insults back to mere sarcasm. This is your ever-vigilant, yet understanding, moderator signing off. - Sundayjackson
I hate to break this to you but neither your age or the money you've spent entitles you to anything other than being able to watch a football game. I just figured it out. You think the New York Jets acutally owe YOU something personally. Grow up. A. Why would anyone "blame" you? Holy shit!!! You really think you should be a part of the organization, don't you? 2. I'm not taking anything up with anyone. That's what loons like you try to do. D. What are they serving for lunch at the home? *NOTE - This post was typed like a crazy person so Champ could understand it. D.
Its the way U write ur posts towards me. I suggest U go back & review my post before the season & see how right on they were. My age & money spent was trying to explain to U which sorry to say went way, way, way over ur head that after being a NYJ fan for 42 years & spending all that money that I would hope to be able to say we have good players & a team ready to compete for a SB but sorry to say we do not now & will we for some years to come into the future. If you feel otherwise that is fine but I would caution U to maybe stop drinking that green koolaid & wearing green colored shades because it will be take some years before we/U will see a SB ready team & that is IF we hit grand slam HRs with each & every draft pick within the next couple of years. If U think differently then my opinion then fine & we will see as the years go by whom was more correct
I think I just figured it out. Maybe you're the reason the Jets seem cursed. Maybe the rest of us are being punished by some deal with the devil that you made to get your stock tip all those years ago, and this is payback to the rest of us for your actions. Hey, if you can spout nonsense, then so can I.
Champ you do not evaluate anything. All you do is post gibberish in some kind of abbreviated primate language. A broken clock is correct twice daily. You give no insight into anything. Nothing zero nada. You do not prove your points with any reasonable basis of fact. Your posts are a joke and nothing more. Watch this Champ......... I will base my last statement on a fact. Something you have said has resulted in a sig more so than anyone. See it is not hard to use a reasonable fact behind a statement. Try it sometime unless you like to be thought of as a complete joke.
Your not being fair to Champ. His evulation, based on 42 years of following the NYJs is that, if only we upgrade every position from third tier players to first tier players that all 31 teams haven't passed on the NYJs would be in position to compete for the CHAMPIONSHIP. Are you really trying to argue with that?
Funny thing about Champ... He criticizes Brick..yet the player HE is on record for wanting in that draft(Vernon Davis)....isnt even CLOSE to being as productive as brick has been. You wanna talk about a bust? HA!
To be fair, calling Vernon Davis a bust at this point is just as ridiculous as calling DBrick a bust. Can we not just let their careers develop before throwing the bust label around(this is not meant directly to you, just the board in general.) His career has certainly gotten off to a slow start but with the QB situation they have out there in San Fran, no receiver is going to produce. He has also had a bunch of injuries that have slowed him down, he still has the talent to be a top TE in this league.
Good point..and rarely do I use the word Bust..My point is..that if people think brick has been unproductive..take a look at Davis thus far..who many wanted instead of Brick
If Brick could get back to the way he played in the first half of last season I'd be pleased. I don't wish him to fail, but my confidence in him is certainly down.
Please prove to me & the group where I EVER said I wanted Vernon Davis or for that matter anyone as I am not a draftee. All I said is Brick is a total waste of the 4th overall pick in the draft which his own play is confirming I was totally correct in what I said
What the heck are you living in the 17/18 century where they believed in hexes & curses? Why can you not see that the majority of the NYJ players are NOT quality players which is the reason we stink. It is so obvious to anybody that has any FB knowledge which I guess excludes you
Wait so you mean there are no such things of hexes and curses? At least Santa Claus still comes to my house every year...
Voodoo-Hexes-Witches & all other things super natural are not the reason the NYJs are a national embrassment. The ONLY reason is that garbage players on the roster + poor coaching & voila U have all the makings of a 2-9 team! Time for you & all the other dreamers & hopers are this board to realize that fact & until we get a major ungrade in the quality of players we put on the roster we will continue to be just another bottom feeding team in the NFL so get used to it.
