plus we have mccariens and barret for extra picks will get atleast a 4th back so im happy he is supposed ot be the bets corner in the draft and our special teams retuns should be very scary
Basically, you're trading a late 2nd-rounder to move up 11 spots in the 1st round and take the best player in the draft at your weakest position. This really is a great move.
also remember we have 20 of 21 starters back form last eyar losing only our fullback and added the best cb in the draft our biggets need now get some ol help and some dline help im dancing in the halls
This is from nfl draftcountdown report - This is a very good pick and an excellent move for the Jets, moving up over ten spots in round one and only having to give up a late second round pick. Cornerback was arguably their #1 need so to land the top guy available in the middle of round one is a coup and he will be a perfect fit for Eric Mangini's defense. In New England he had Ty Law and now in New York he has Darrelle Revis, who may never be a true shutdown type but will be very good. Last year the Jets did a great job in round one with D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Nick Mangold and they are off to a good start again. I have to agree.
Champ Bailey, Deion Sanders, "shut down" corners don't last that late. He might be a good player but to trade up? Seems desperate. That Jets Defense was terrible last year and they need multiple players. I think it was a panic pick. This guy may be good but you didn't need to give up a second rounder for him.
Great move by the FO. Revis will be starting day one. I disagree with some saying we paid too much, lost a 2nd rd and 5th and gained a 6th....not too bad. We stiill have 2 more 1st day picks, plus include the Thomas Jones trade as a 1st day pick.
Hehe, we got a second rounder for free in a trade with Danny Boy Snyder last year on draft day, it's not like we're depleting our small store of draft picks here. We have another one. I think the Jets saw someone they had rated high on their value board fall when teams like the Bills were picking for need and they jumped at a chance to draft the corner they had rated highest when we have problems at the position. I don't see panic here. Tannenbaum likes to deal on draft day. We really didn't give much up to move 11 spots in the first round.
Denver trades from 21 to 17 with the Jags and give up a 3rd, and 6th. Compare that to our deal where we move up 11 spots and give up a second rounder, 5th rounder and still get the other teams 6th rounder. How is that a bad deal for us?
I love the pick, we badly needed a CB and got the best one in the draft instead of Chris Houston at 25, and we got the better half of the trade. Now take a DT in the 2nd round or 3rd round, and use the other pick on either a OG or OLB.
Jets trade to Carolina: #25 (720 pts) #59 (310 pts) late 5th rounder (approx. 31 pts) TOTAL: 1061 pts Jets Receive from Carolina: #14 (1100 pts) mid 6th rounder (approx. 22 pts) TOTAL: 1122 pts
I guess the Jets should have consulted you on how good he was then, instead of the hours of game film they studied. I wonder what Larry David thinks.
I love this pick... Love it!! Physical, fast and explosive... Outstanding trade up... Couldn't be happier.
