The only thing is any OL we can get will probably be a second stringer. I would gladly take an OL man the quality of fowler for Teddy, but that opportunity may not be available. The Fowler trade is unique because he is a starter...he's young.....& he's good. Get me a OLmen equal to that and you got a deal.
Teams are not trading their top 7 o lineman. The rest will be available Labor Day weekend. As for Fowler, this has been brewing since they declined his option. Me and a few others have been calling for this for months. There’s something to this
my bad. still transition tag, franchise tag, LTD plenty of options to keep him here for many years. lots of times with trades like this they will negotiate the extension with the trade
well 15 more then teddy would start lol. also someone corrected me about the 5th year option apparently the deadline passed but we still have tags and a LTD that could be reached as well so not really an issue. we have like 100 mil in cap room for 2019
He’s also coming off a week’s suspension for fighting with fellow defensive end Yannick Ngakoue, and will be suspended for the first week of the regular season after last year’s arrest for assaulting a man, stepping on his glasses, and throwing his groceries in a lake.
good call. since it was a team suspension and not a league suspension the jets don't have to suspend him for week 1 EDIT: nope apparently it's a league suspension so no he won't play week 1
It appears that Manish is the only source on this so I’m assuming this is bullshit on a slow news day.
1st. What makes you think Teddy would return a stud O-Line man? 2nd. What makes you think a Stud LOL... for real. Yup, let's get this guy on the team ASAP.
Reason for suspension : He’s also coming off a week’s suspension for fighting with fellow defensive end Yannick Ngakoue, and will be suspended for the first week of the regular season after last year’s arrest for assaulting a man, stepping on his glasses, and throwing his groceries in a lake.
When's the last time you saw a competent OT traded right before a season. Teams cling to them like GOLD.
The pass rush problem is to the point where it can realistically be solved by adding one legit starter. The OL is not getting fixed by any singular player or entity. The problems are whole sale which gets even further compounded w the new scheme.Might as well wait til next offseason when Carpenter is off the books & the team can start from scratch.Theres nothing that can be done at this point thats making the OL situation any better..this is not 2004 w pete Kendall
Probably not,,but if I were Mac I would be calling every team that has O line depth and asking. I like the idea of calling the Jags but I hate the idea of trading Teddy for him,,,,I would start with WR s or a body and or Picks and see where that goes if anywhere. AND again even though you have called this and props to you for doing so, ITS MANISH and his fugazy sources I believe none of it until it happens
he's no boy scuot but sometimes you gotta take a chance on a talented player. Maybe the jets can keep him in line more
this is very true. jenkins shows some flashes and pairing him with fowler and our d-line depth could fix the problem in one move. O-line is a mess right now however. we need upgrades at both tackle spots and probably a guard as well. we need a full offseason to fix the o-line issues. couple of high draft picks and a big FA. it's not getting fixed for 2018 no matter what and right now the NFL is in a shortage of good lineman as well.
Fair but we didn't know anything about Fowler until today. There probably are people available on the sly.
Being predictable by calling short, quick release plays over and over comes with its own set of problems as well.
