The reason I do not want to draft a QB at #4 is that the financial implications will dictate that they start probably by year 2 or possibly 3. I don't think the team knows enough about Penny and definately don't know enough about Ramsey (in current system) to hand the position to a Rook, even if they look as good as Leinart, or to a lesser degree Young and Cutler. If a QB is drafted at 4 they will have to be the starter soon, and if Penny or Ramsey perform we are in the Chargers situation. I would rather take a player we know 100% will start for us, such as Mario, Brick, or Hawk. If we draft a QB and Penny or Ramsey performs we have wasted a very high pick.
makes me wonder if maybe Ramsey would be the one to get cut if we draft a QB and Brooks performs well enough over the summer. Then again, I have no clue what the cap hit would be either way
Why trade for a QB, then cut him? That makes zero sense. If we draft a QB, Brooks will be the one to get cut. As much as I like Leinart and want him to be a Jet. I just don't see us drafting him sadly. I mean we have Penny and Ramsey. We don't know how well or bad Penny will do and Ramsey has tons of upside. we'll just see if he can perform to his abilities. I don't care who we draft, just not D'brick. We can get tons of O line help later in the draft.
It's not ethical? Dagnammit, now we're going to have Amnesty International protests at games as well? Bugger it all.
