I saw that the Fins released Cory Schlesinger. He could be an upgrade at FB and be a short yardage RB. I've got to believe there is a trade or two brewing here to balance the roster.
Looking at the OL depth... it is piss poor at best... something has to give. RB depth is worrisome too but not as bad as it looks on paper. All four running backs should contribute this year... though I question how much good having Tutt on the field will do. EDIT: You have to figure that Pociask can play FB too so he can really be counted as TE/FB.
Alone it's not surprising, but with the 5 TEs...that give us 11 guys at receiving positions (granted Dearth isn't a receiver).
The Saints cut one of their 4th round picks- Antonio Pittman. He lost out to another Big Ten product. Pierre Thomas went undrafted out of Illinois. Thomas had a good preseason, so it's not a surprise he made the team. Maybe the Jets will consider picking up Pittman.
I just meant I wasn't surprised because Wallace Wright will primarily play ST's. I am surprised about the TE's though
Glad to see we kept both Drew Coleman and Hank Poteat... not great corners, but you can't ask for much more out of the #5 and #6 corner spots.
Yes, of the 53, he was probably the longest shot. Congrats to him, he beat out quite a few bubble guys. He must be very happy today.
They drafted him last year to be a blocking FB/TE. But he got hurt in preseason last year and they never got to see him during game time (regular season). So they probably decided to keep him on the roster to see what he can do, instead of just throwing away the draft pick. It actually makes perfect sense. And maybe we should wait to see the guy play before we call him "garbage," call me crazy.
Have you watched this preseason? He caught everything they threw his way and blocked very effectively
This is not the team that takes the field next Sunday. Its the team to get down to 53. They are not done
Teams dress 45 players for games. Figure either Pociask or Kowalewski will be in street clothes on the Inactive List for Week 1.
Our FB's Suck right now. After rewatching the pre-season games we are in deep shit @ that position. Also in deep shit @ RG and D-Line...but we already knew that. BTW, the reason Ware got cut was because Brad Smith showed us he was an unacceptable option for the #3 so the extra spot went to Tui. Ventrone had a solid Pre and looks like he can be that special teams guy...
- I know Dearth is th e best long snapper in the game and all but 5 TE's?? C'mon. - Not suprised that Tutt made it over Ware, Tutt's versitility won there. - I hope we do something with the line, that just looks horrible on paper right now. - Haynes leaving was a minor shocker and I guess Shlegal was as bad as everyone said. I guess every GM makes a bad pick or two.
