I actually understood exactly what you meant. At no point did I say or even imply that Cro was healed. In fact I was questioning how he could be both fine and at the same time lost speed and/or needs help. If anything that would imply the opposite in that he is not yet fully recovered. Regardless, I still feel he needs to be cut at the end of the year. His production is simply not commensurate with his play. Prior to the season I was calling for us to trade him while his stock was high as history told me that he was likely headed for a down season. The only thing consistent about Cro's game is that he is wildly inconsistent. You would think that the fact he was not completely healthy as you say would have him play with better technique, but that hasn't been the case. He's biting on double moves irrespective of the down and distance. He's playing with the wrong leverage based on the coverage called. He refuses to use his hands between the LOS and the first 5 yards but can't stop doing so beyond that point (note he held A LOT last year too but it was rarely called). I can go on an on; it's not just his diminished speed due to his recovering from injury. Note the "if you know what your talking about" undertones of your posts are just as insulting even though they are more passive aggressive in nature.
pretty much what I was thinking - he is in a bind, not the other way around, its not like we are 1 year into a big multi-year deal and he cannot be cut.
I would argue that Walls has been the best outside CB we had this year. In press he hasn't got beat immediately at the LOS the way Milliner an Cro have and when off the LOS he's reacted quickly. Where he has struggled, has been in competition for the ball. He has located the ball well but a couple times has been indecisiveness on how to attack it. That's still a lot better than what Cro and Milliner have done this year.
I remember hearing an analyst say that Cro is best when he comes up and gives the WR tight coverage & bumping them at the line, but he gets lazy and doesn't work consistently...
Try and get him a paycut and see if you can move him to safety. Dude would be a beast as a center fielder.
Our defense's biggest problem right now (aside from the offense) is rushing the passer. As long as these guys get all day to throw the ball (while playing with a big lead) our secondary gets a pass.
The play you speak of, where the ball was under thrown, was on MILLINER I believe not Cro. I might be wrong but Cro was beaten deep and out of position for the second TD. Then again I was so pissed by then I might heave been seeing things. I do agree with you however, we are blaming too much on CRO....we really should be playing a lot less man to man with the current secondary.
I'd be fine with letting Milliner and Walls start next year. Both very young, big, and have potential. All we need is for the safeties to help cover the deep ball. I'm glad Rex said that we might actually start playing more cover 2.
