Stupid lucky? Our franchise 1st round QB has had two shoulder surgeries and while he looks healthy from the point of view of human health, he certainly isn't healthy in terms of an NFL QB. The last time the Jets put a healthy team on the field was the opening of the 04 season.
Um....top picks that never panned out over and over again. See in other words just because you have top picks doesn't equate to success...
The thinking was? I think you're talking about the fans thinking not the GM and HC. We lost two picks and got two excellent starters plus Thomas Jones. We gave up 1 body out of this draft and upgraded 3 positions.
Ok, poor coaching and poor player selection goes hand in hand in my mind as the same people who coach them are also part of the team that selects them.
and what exactly is the point you are trying to make? Everyone already knows good coaching and quality player personell are vital to a teams success.
Last year's draft was a poo poo draft. That's why NE traded away their first round pick, it simply wasn't worth it. The jets were very smart in their drafting approach last year if you ask me.
Well, since you failed to make any point at all in your original post about why the teams you mentioned, who had good draft picks, still sucked, I was offering one for you.
My point is very simple. The post I was referring to made this statement... And since I need to spell...it...out...for...you.... Having top draft picks does not necessarily mean the team will have success. You can say coaching and F.O. mistakes all you want, the point is the same. I'd rather spend a season tasting success than wishing we would lose for the chance that a couple of top draft picks will turn out to be studs.
Even after seeing what we have seen of this team this year with the basically the same players from last years team people still refuse to believe we had a weak schedule and luck to get to the Playoffs. We beat bad teams. Only 1 team we beat all of last year was over .500! We suck now and we s**ked then! We are just paying the piper for last years luck now.
This is right! The "good" teams, that are built for long term success, build by finding players in the middle and lower rounds!!! This is what separates a good front office from a bad one, not "who can suck more and pile up more picks", it's who can evaluate talent better than the others....there are ALWAYS busts in the early rounds, where you pay players a lot of money, hoping that they are good players. The good teams find the bulk of their talent in the middle rounds, finding diamonds in the rough and coaching them up to front line players, without breaking the bank on them.
This is the only correct post. All our players claim that there is talent on the team as does the Mangini. So if we have talent! Then the only reason for the losing is coaching. I think last year was a fluke! We had an easy schedule and we were lucky to win several of the games. This led us to believe that we were contenders. The Tangini's handling of the draft was very upsetting. As a fan, I realized that we needed much more help on both the OL and DL! If Tangini did not see this obvious weakness then something is very wrong with their evaluation of the team. Here are some questionable things management has done: 1. Why trade up in the draft to get fewer players rather than more players? 2. Why did we wait until the last pick to get an OL? 3. Why was CP not traded for draft picks before the trading deadline? (At 1-5 we were out of the playoffs. We have to know if Clemens is a real NFL QB). If he's not we could pick-up another QB in next year?s draft? 4. Why do we run the same dink and dunk play time after time? We have a bunch of armatures running the team. This entire management team is in over their heads.:shit:

Stupid lucky. How many people have the Jets IR'd in 2006 and 2007? The fact that we are continuing to play a QB who had two arm surgeries in 2004 and 2005 is not bad injury luck, it's bad planning, Chad should have been replaced already.
