If the price is right, I say bring back both Chris Baker and Laverneus Coles. Would love to see them in Hess green and white again!
Keep em both away, Keller is only going to get better as Sanchez. Proof is in the playoffs. Baker couldn't hurt if the price is low I guess. Cotchery is a savvy veteran at this point, and LC never really impressed me. Why do you think the Bengals cut him after 1 season? He's obviously not impressing them, and that was with a seasoned QB throwing to him.
Palmer is a broken man ever since his injury in the playoffs vs the Steelers a few years ago (the year the Steelers beat the Seahawks in the sbowl). He really doesnt play well at all anymore, and their passing game looks terrible.
I would not want Coles as my water boy. He's full of himself and so over rated. Let him join noodle arm in Miami. Damm, that's right, Tuna is to smart for that.
Well they were going from TJ Housmenzada to Coles. So that is a pretty significant downgrade for Palmer. And their #3 wr missed almost the entire season due to injury/death
The guy is a gamer, no question, and I'll certainly always give him that. I liked him the first time around. I liked him the second time around. Still, I don't think the third time is a charm.
I veiw Coles as a Jet, and I'd like for him to make one more round with us. But I would do it more as a 4th receiver than a 3rd. If he's willing to do that and take a major pay cut, then I would bring him back. Then, if one of our receivers goes down, he's a decent choice to be a back-up. I don't think he's durable enough to be one of the top 3 receivers. He's too injury prone to play an entire season. Now, Chris Baker, on the other hand, is still very serviceable. He can block alright, and he has good hands. After Keller, our TE situation last season was nill. Baker should definitely be a Jet.
He's missed 4 games in the past 9 years.. he's not "injury-prone", he's just had a few too many bumps to the head. Plus, Chad won't be here throwing him floaters this time around.
i wouldnt have coles back unless he paid the organization to play. he is a whiny ass that wouldnt fit in our locker room now. i didnt like him the second time around, and sure as heck dont want to see an injury plagued third time.
If the Jets sign Coles they should still drat a slot WR. They're going to need his replacement by week 5.
The problem is where can we draft a slot reciever ? If we dont (or cant) trade down or by some means get another draft pick, can we really expect someone good and ready to start at pick # 160 ?
5th round. White from MSU should still be there, or we can pick McCluster in the second if we lose Leon. He can cover both positions. He's going to be the #3 WR. By definition he does not have to be ready to start.
Well I understand he wouldnt be an actual starter (ie top 2 wrs), but I meant that wed need someone ready to play next year even as a #3 wr since we REALLY struggled last year on 3rd and longs (we were 20th something on 3rd down conversions, and that number would of been worse if we werent so awesome on 3rd and short). And by having a half competent #3 wr I think our chances get alot better. Ive been really hoping we get a crack at one of those mid round guys like Barnes. Ill check out this White guy, dont really know anything about em but if he can help us convert on 3rd and long id be more than happy with that.
