As if that has any impact on this team? So he gets a few TC reps in while failing to get open for Kevin O'Connell and drops a few from [UDFA QB who doesn't make it to first cuts] and lets the guys with an actual chance to make the team get a breather every once in a while.
Looks like coles will be returning to the Jets -Rich Cimini of the New York Daily News reports GM Mike Tannenbaum today said the team is interested in former Jets WR Laveranues Coles. Tannenbaum said he already has texted Coles and has spoken to his agent. "I think he would be productive for us," Tannenbaum said. Coles has expressed interest in playing for the Jets after being released by the Bengals.
One catch away from a concussion-related diagnosis that sidelines him and still allows collection of all the Jets' money promised. I'm skeptical of his motivations and questioning of why we need to do this again with this particular player. Now if you want to bring in his old buddy, Chad Pennington, as a B/U QB, then maybe this all makes some kind of sense. I don't know. I've got to be losing my mind if I want to go back there.
Don't mind getting coles but we should still adress a need in the slot! Coles would only represent depth.
I'm not reading through 11 pages, so I hope this hasn't been posted yet. http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2010/03/ny_jets_and_wide_receiver_lave.html
Man, I know Coles is showing his age but I really want to see him back in green next year. I never understood the hatred some fans had for him.. he always played his heart out and put everything on the line. Maybe he wasn't great with the media, but practically everything he ever said was dissected and spat back up completely out of context. Hopefully, if the opportunity arises, we'll also draft someone and see if we can't find a slot guy for the future. For a while I thought Clowney could fill that spot, but apparently not.
Yeagh, Clowney's more of a situational deep threat that can't run much more than a streak or the occasional slant. We don't have bad depth but Smith isn't really a receiver. Coles is 32, but I think he could be productive, I mean how often did we go 3 wide last year (not counting the times Keller was in the slot)?
For depth I guess it's ok. Can't see him bringing a lot to the table. If he plays slot and Sanchez throws some bait down the middle, I could see a Safety ending his life.
If it happens in Madden it must be true, lol. I love Smith and what he brings to the table and expect we'll see a lot more of him this year.
The problem is, we've all been saying this for years now. Brad Smith is great at what he is. A Wildcat QB who almost exclusively runs with the ball, and a very good special teamer. He's not a good wide receiver or QB. He's actually only 3rd on the depth chart at WR because we're so shallow at the position.
Tell me about it!! Clowney just wrapped up his 3rd year in a row with at least 1200 yds and 10 TD's for me. Schotty really does suck...this guy is a Pro Bowler!!
If Coles comes back he needs to shut his mouth. His abillity to play is awesome, his mouth is too painful to hear him complain like a little baby. I don't care what he can do when he catches the ball, I want him to shut his mouth and stop complaining. History is repeating it's self.
