I don't think Scott is that old. I'm pretty sure the Jets signed him over Ray Lewis because Scott has a lot more left.
It seemed like Kris Jenkins was a cornerstone, but our defense doesn't seem to miss him that much. I'd go with Revis, Scott, D'brick, Mangold
The Jets Run defense has gotten better by any metric you want to use. Pouha is the number 1 NT in the entire NFL @ stuffing the run.... Including the Pass, he is # 5. He has done a fanfreakingtastic job. Pro Football Focus NT numbers.
The Jets average rush yards allowed per game is 100.4 yards (9th in the league). I wouldn't call that "getting gashed," seeing as Jenkins has been out 10 weeks now
They do a great job of quantifying things that are difficult to. Have to give them a lot of credit. Sometimes the number are mystifying, as in the case of David Harris to the downside or Pouha to the upside. For istance I really thought Harris was better against the run than he is. However, he really excels against the pass. I thought it was the reverse.
Yet somehow they have Kerry Rhodes ranked as the 2nd overall safety and named him to their probowl squad. safeties
Scott has been here less than a year but you could make a case for him. Keller hasn't played well enough to be considered a cornerstone of our team. Greene isn't starting (and is also a rookie) so he doesn't cut it yet. TJ is over 30 but the way he has played you could make a case for him. Genreally the cornerstones of your team are expected to be on the team in four or five years. I wouldn't call Cotch or Edwards a cornerstone until we see who emerges as the # 1 WR next year. Cotchery has been better this year but Edwards just got here and may emerge as our # 1 next year (or as a hero in this year's playoffs).
We have a top O-line and running game. We brought in a number 1 WR and have a talented young TE. We also have a top 5 defense. We are on the edge of the playoffs with a QB that has a 63 passer rating. What would you consider our problem?
Alan Faneca's age and inability to pass block. Bryan Thomas's general mediocrity. Kerry Rhodes's regression. Kris Jenkins's age and injuries. Shaun Ellis's age. TJ's age. The team must continue to be built around Sanchez as he develops, lest he peaks and it goes to waste.
I consider these players conerstones because of why they were drafted, as in Greene and Keller, and importance to the team as in TJ. edwards can also be considered a conerstne because he was traded for to be our superstar wideout. Yes, maybe they haven't played for us long or reached their prime but they were chosen for a reason
This site is retarded, football isn't baseball, you can't use stats to show how good a player is, you have to actually watch them play. According to this site 54 running backs have played better than Thomas Jones this season.
