I think if we don't sign anyone one of the CBs will make a switch we kinda have a ton of corners now lol

I don't get the obsession with a conversion. Cornerbacks are a premium position in this defense and every one will be needed.

The Jets aren't paying him 8mil per for the next 2 years so he can switch to a position he has never played and it's pretty safe to say he won't be on the team in year 3

He wasn't a great tackler. Don't you remember from several years ago? He's not the best line of defense. Hopefully we can find someone on the cheap who's still available or maybe McCags has a sleeper on our roster

Cro was definitely not the CB I was thinking of. He's an arm tackler. He doesn't wrap people up and a free safety needs to be one of the surest tacklers on the field. When you are the deep safety, you are usually the last man between the ball carrier and the endzone.

Zone is a lot easier than man-to-man by far. Especially as the deep safety. Watch the QBs eyes and you'll know where to shade. I wasn't the most athletic football player, but a lot of QBs give away the direction of the play with their eyes.

I am ALL for converting Milliner into a FS.

I feel like Milliner would REALLY excel at a free safety position due to his speed, agility, and athleticism. He doesn't quite have the aggressiveness to be a pro corner. If you look at some of the big plays he has made, many have been in interior coverage. A good example is the INT he had against the browns. A FS has less pressure and responsibility on their assignment, which I feel would strongly favor Dee. His physique screams Safety more than it does corner.

Why are Jets fans always talking about converting a CB to a Saftey? How about we just go and get a saftey....Enough with this converting shit, people act like its done all the time in the NFL .....Corners play Corner let's convert Geno into a third string Fullback while were at it

why pay revis $14m to shut 1/2 the field down. Move him to FS and have him shut the whole damn thing down!

I get that there are some differences between CB and FS, but I'm not entirely sure that they're 100% incompatible. Cover skills, vision, and sure tackling appear to be the three most important things in a FS, which many corners have. Let's say that Revis, Cromartie, and Skrine are the three corners. That's still leaves a few men on this roster who have safety skills: Miles (actually a FS), Jarret (SS), Allen (who played some SS), Milliner, McDougle, and Walls. Given that those players are so young, at least one can serve as an average FS while Pryor shifts to his more natural S position. That's what I see happening, particularly with a former DB as our HC.

Why is everyone so convinced Pryors natural position is SS? He played more FS in college and many of his best hits in college were from the free safety position. He does very well with a big field where he closes on someone in situations without a huge amount of traffic around them. Just because he hits like a Mack truck doesn't mean he cant play FS.

No he isn't. I wish people would quit saying that. He doesn't like being physical and is not a good tackler. He would make a terrible FS.

I know he played FS in college, but according to many posters he looked lost in coverage last year and took bad angles. Many of them said he looked better when playing in the box and supporting the run. It will be interesting to see what Bowles does.

Last year should be thrown out. We had no one anywhere who could be relied on. Pryor couldn't cheat one side of the field to help our weakest cb, he had to stay neutral, which left him in bad position for either side.
This year is totally different, Pryor should show great improvement.

Revis and Cro don't get burned deep often if at all.
We never should have put a rookie in that position last year and expected much good to happen. He was asked to play sideline to sideline Los to EZ, thats a lot of territory to ask of a rookie. Then throw in Rex's blitzes and he's more alone.

We'll see what this year looks like, but I expect much better play from him.

I think that's why they signed the kid from SD. I've already gone blank on his name. LOL But Miles is not a FS in the NFL. He doesn't have the speed, and probably not the coverage skills. I'm pretty sure he played SS in college.
