I think my desktop has bitten the dust... it had this bizarre thing of turning itself off in the middle of something and then one morning it turned off and won't turn back on. I hate how all these prics sit at home and create viruses that destroy married guys' computers. Geez if I was getting laid I wouldn't be downloading pictures of Madelyn Marie......

Yesterday and today ive been having issues with firefox timing out every time or so.

I go to espn.com, mlb.com, even google.com it times out every 5 minutes or so. I have 3.6, and when i use IE the issue does not come up.
Any ideas what i should do?

Not bad, not bad at all.

How long was it before it would turn back on? It sounds like it's overheating. Take it someplace to have them check the fans and vents.

A virus generally will not turn off your computer. I'm assuming you have some sort of virus protection?

Actually I found that the main power plug in the back comes loose for some reason. I've gotten it back up and running but it still comes loose. No big deal as it's almost at replace mode anyway.

Got this neat little virus, "antivirus soft" I think. Spent the last 6 hours getting rid of it.

I'm running a full system scan on malwarebytes and SUPERantispyware right now just to make sure. This thing was a pain in the ass just to get it to shut the fuck up.

I should have put this in here a few weeks back when it happened.

I got an email from UPS telling me they had a packaged to be delivered to my home and the address was bad. It wanted me to DL an attachment to take to the local UPS shipping depot to verify and identify my package. I click on...well, you can see this happening already. Lets put it this way, get a firewall. I changed to Vipre antivirus/antispyware and had my fingers crossed that I didn't need to go with a separate firewall because of the active protection. Lesson learned. Once I finally (hopefully) cleaned all that shit out of my computer, next day I DL'ed the Sunbelt firewall (integrates with Vipre, made by the same company. It should be fully integrated into one package down the road, but right now its separate programs)

And by the way, I'm still sold on the Vipre. Of all the security I've used over the years, its the least invasive and very effective. I hate bloatware.

Got the same thing. It starts up this fake "virus scan" saying my shit is infected and whatnot. I keep having to run SpybotSD first just so I can start up Malwarebytes (which is blocked by the virus), then I have to run Malwarebytes to remove the virus completely. The next day, "bam" same shit hits me again.

Anyone know the cause of this? Is it firefox specific?

i remember getting something similar to this.

I remember freaking out and running spybot s&d, malwarebytes, AVG

i hope you can get malwarebytes to work because that eliminated mine...It def is spyware and it is caused by clickthroughs and downloading their fake program.

Crazy thing is that I did manage to do a full Malwarebytes scan, it found and removed the virus, but then I got the same crap again the very next day and had to do it all over again.

I was wondering if it was just flat out bad luck, if maybe it was something I clicked on (highly doubt, since I'm real careful about that stuff), or maybe it's something to do with the browser (firefox)? Stupid hackers and their goddamn shenanigans...

EDIT: Oh, and I just noticed post counts are back. I hope all the stupid e-peen crap doesn't follow along with it.

I had to run Malwarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyware while in safe mode to get AntiVirus soft to get off my computer. It's a little bitch.

If that works, I would still run both programs again to make sure it's completely gone.

Oh nice. I had AVG up until about a month ago when it expired and I didn't renew. It says it's $29.99; will the Free version still remove shit if found?
