Fitz threw ONE bad pass. Awful. The team played like complete shit that game--top to bottom. Lol, nice try. I love my Jets, have since 1969, been a STH since 2000. I'm a TRUE Jet fan. You're a Genobot and not really a true Jet fan. I know why you post here. _
More (ii) than (i). Pundits, which LT now a member of, don't watch the team as closely as fans do. I can concede that LT might know more about football than I do but I doubt very much he know more about this team. Prior to the 8-8 2013 season the vast majority of the punditry projected the Jets would be the worst team in the league. Mostly everyone who were not objective die-hard fans accepted that as fact. Living in Chicago back then, I made a lot of money wagering against that narrative. I, as a fan who knew the roster in and out, knew that we could squeeze out 7-9 wins with our defense and the soft schedule. Like I told the suckers I bet against, I've been a Jets fans for 30+ years going into a season knowing we would be one of the worst teams in the league was nothing new to me. 2013 was just not one of those years IMO.
Some people can't seem to separate Geno, the talented strong arm athletic prospect, from Geno, the low football IQ and poor leader. You have a better chance of winning with a QB that's the opposite. Fitz and Peyton Manning last year to some extent proved that.
I think that's the point folks are missing. Geno has a strong arm and is relatively athletic but is dumb as a box of hammers. I am underwhelmed by having Fitz as my QB until Petty is ready but as weak armed as he is, he's smart, usually makes the right decision and is a leader of men. Not a punk. I'm not Fitz fan. He's the best option to win now until Petty takes the job. _
I'm sure having an elite defense scoring crap tons of points on their own had nothing to do with it for Manning. I mean, he threw 9 touchdowns and 17 interceptions in the regular season and wasn't even good in the playoffs by any measure. Also, some people can't fathom the idea that a player could improve over time, even if their stats prove it's possible.
not hope, think. the thought process that geno can improve under gailey because gailey has that effect on bad qbs isn't that far fetched,is it?
Players naturally improve over time as they get stronger and more mature and with experience. What does not improve is smarts. Just like in basketball you can't teach tall and in most sports you can't teach fast, in football--NFL QB wise--you can't fix stupid. Sure you could surround Geno with talent and put in a system that hides his flaws. You still have a dope at the most important position in all of organized sports. Good luck with that. _
The issues I brought up about Geno (i.e., low football IQ and lack of leadership) were not issues that can measured in stats.
Playing Geno... Never mind. I can no longer do this. There's a very special 2 hour Jake and the Fat Man on now I'd rather watch. You got it. It Geno time. _
ah, see? i never said its geno time.i stated that the thought process that he can improve isn't that far fetched, considering all the factors.
You got me. He can improve. He can go from being a sub-moronic player to a moronic player. And we will have achieved relative success. Now it money time. _
Since I am toning out the genobots here let me guess Geno007 must have posted something as a reply to a person who is not a genobot comparing him to either Fitz or another average qb. which in any case would be a joke because Fitz last yr threw how many tds versus how many interceptions? Face it Geno sucks he is not football-smart enough to be any type of long term answer at qb for an nfl team. can mod just end this thread please it has been discussed to the fullest and at this point is absolutely repeating. F geno there I said it I hate him for helping to destroy my team and for that reason alone he should be shipped out of here
this right here give the man a cigar. No one here has said Fitz is a long term answer but he is the better NFL qb
I can't see the Jets going with Geno because it sends a horible message to fans and players. It's literally like, "oh don't mind 2016.... we're not going to compete anyway." Jeez! I'd be happy with trading for Glennon. Petty should be pushing for time by the end of the season anyway.
