It would be funny if Geno is named the starter, gets all the reps in OTA's, mini camp and early training camp and everyone is raving about how good he looks in camp, then Fitzpatrick resigns and Bowles names him the starter, if you're Geno that would hurt, if you're a Geno supporter you're annoyed, if you're a Fitz fan you're happy if you're a Geno detractor you're also happy.

Not a guess going off what Bowles said about a month ago.

So Bowles is saying since Petty is not ready he'll have to sign another QB if Fitz doesn't re-sign. Petty is now #2 on the depth chart.

What was Colon going to say?

    "No Fitz?.....well, I guess we're screwed for 2016."

Now he is. But I'll bet he doesn't get a chance to start this season.

Isn't Colon the same guy who called Geno out? Last season about his maturity?

Agreed. Why ruin a QB with higher upside like an unready Petty when you have a cheap throwaway like Geno on the roster. But why make a thread title that sounds like Colon is endorsing Geno when he was actually stating a worst case scenario.

A more accurate description would be "Colon thinks Geno could start so not to ruin Petty" or "Geno could start if hell freezes over" or "Geno could start if Jets unable to sign virtually any other QB"....which is essentially what he said in that article.

All those are your opinion. For all we know Petty will never be ready. I don't think the Jets even think Petty is ready to be a 2nd string QB.

He gets the ball to Marshall, and that is why Brandon endorses him. Willie endorses Geno as an alternative. I would like to trade Wilk to Detroit for Stafford if we can't get Fitzy back. Hoyer, Griffin, and Geno are all downgrades.

Tell me again how Fitz excels in the NFL? I must had missed it. Yeah he excels so much he got teams beating his door down.

Right. So failing signing a QB, it's better to waste an already ruined Geno instead of ruining any upside for Petty, who may or may not work out down the road. None of which supports your misleading thread title.

Anyone else worried Colon won't pass concussion protocol by training camp?

Call it misleading or whatever you want. Why all of a sudden a man who called out Geno all of a sudden supports Geno. Maybe just maybe Geno is ready to become the starter. Plus I look for Fitz to sign with Denver.
