I'm tired of the excuses for Rex and Sanchez You know who gets all the blame The lack of talent that's a spit in the face to every other player that gives it their all Rex and Mark must go I'd love to keep Rex as a DC but a Head Coach he is not
All over your chest, girlfren. The fact that you couldn't actually go point by point in it was telling. You definitely need a sensei.
Fantastic and well thought out post! Dare I say post of the new millennium!!! In fact, someone should e-mail this to the rags that report on the Jets. They may learn something.
The fact that you screeched like a pre-teen girl at a Justin Beiber concert is even more telling. I'm not gonna take the time to piss all over a well written post, even if I don't agree with much of it. I addressed what I needed to after reading what he had to say...without attacking him personally. That seems to be something you're incapable of. Go bully someone else. You're out of your league with me.
I know he would never accept it but it would be awesome if Rex stayed on as defensive coordinator regardless of who was the next HC.
I tweeted this post to the relevant knob jockeys @MMehtaNYDN @RichCimini @NYDNsports @ScyShirley @NYJetsTweets @nyjets See if any of them reply..... *tumbleweed*
he won 6 games and had us in the playoff race in December w/ a healthy roster that should have won 2 or 3 tops and an inept offensive coaching staff. It was his fault he brought in Sparano but I am judging him on COACHING not the offseason decision to bring in Sparano and to be fair he quickly realized his mistake and let Sparano go. We had an offensive that turned it over more than scored and yet we still had a playoff chance in December- that is spectacular. Now Sanchez is important? folks like you spend every day bashing him but now that he is hurt you care? according to you mark is the worst QB in the league so who cares if he gets hurt, right? that is true and it shows we had quality QB play his first 3 years. last year it was bottom 5 if not the worst and we still won 6 games. Rex is an outstanding coach.
I would appeal to Belichick's ego and find a discreet way to tell him, "Come back, take complete control, and take us back to the Super Bowl and they'll take Lombardi's name off the trophy because it would be the greatest feat in sports.
He has to promise that he will use his time machine to go back and get Brady just after the draft because without a QB, Belli will be 5-11
Bill Belichick without Tom Brady(7+ seasons, 113 games): 51-62, 45% ONE playoff app ONE playoff win 1-1 playoff record ZERO div titles ZERO title game apps ZERO SB apps ZERO SB wins Bill Belichick with Tom Brady(almost 11 full seasons, 175 games): 136-39, 78% 10 playoff apps 17-7 playoff record 10 div titles 7 title game apps 5 AFC titles 5 SB apps 3 SB wins do we see any difference?
I'd take either of the last 2 back over Bluto "I'm over my head" Ryan. Both of those know talent. Bluto won with the players Mangini drafted for the most part.
I keep seeing these comments that Rex is not a good Head Coach and I keep finding myself wondering what is it you expect a good Head Coach to do that Rex has not or cannot do? The players love him, want to play for him and they play hard for him. He also puts his players in a position to succeed. He's the best DC in the game and he's done amazing things with the jets defense. He was hamstrung by Tannenbaum with crappy offensive coordinators ever since he got to the jets (between Schotty and Sparano). Its widely believed that neither of them was his choice. MM may not be his choice either, who knows. It's not the head coach's job to find talent and make good draft picks - that's the GM's job and Tannenbaum has done it badly resulting in a dearth of young talent that's starting to be remedied. Tannenbaum has also created a very bad cap situation - which is also not Rex's fault. Has Rex made some mistakes? Of course he has, but so has every other head coach out there. Has he made maybe more because of his inexperience? Probably - although I think those have mostly been in dealing with the media. The main criticisms I've seen of Rex are (i) he's a buffoon that makes the jets look like a circus and (ii) he stays with his guys too long and gives them too much leeway. The buffoon image is one created by the media and, as long as he makes the most of the jets roster, I couldn't care less what the media thinks and I actually prefer having a coach who's a little more lively and entertaining and speaks a little more freely (Parcells did this too). As for staying with "his guys", among the reasons players like playing for a coach and feel loyalty to a coach is because they believe that coach is loyal to them. All good/great coach are loyal to "their guys". Parcells loyalty to "his" players was very well known. This reputation will be a big reason why the jets offseason shopping spree next year will be very successful. Has he stayed with Sanchez too long? Probably, but (i) they didn't have Joe Montana or Tom Brady on the roster to replace him and (ii) Sanchez got them to two AFC championship games and almost got them into the superbowl and its natural to stay with him for a period given that track record than to try an unknown. Rex is the best head coach the jets have had in a very long time. It would be incredibly stupid for the jets to get rid of Rex.
Like who? Ellis? Thomas Jones? Kris Jenkins? Alan Faneca? Calvin Pace? Cromartie? Bart Scott? Sanchez? B Thomas? Holmes? Braylon? Leonhard? Richardson? Moore? Woody? Greene? Sheppard? GTFO. Mangini's drafting prowess was not responsible for our playoff runs under Rex.
so what? Mangini made his only postseason w/ a team mostly built before he got there. rex isn't the GM, he is judged on how he coaches the team not how he drafts players since he doesn't run the drafts.
you need to stop watching the NFL and just stick to college if you judge a coach based on who brought in the players, not how he coaches them.
