That's kind of unfair....there is a big diffrences between Curtis and Chad, for starters Curtis has made more money in his career. They also asked Chad to take a huge pay-cut.... what thye asked him to do was like me making 9 dollars and hour to making a dollar an hour. Yes Chad is making a million but considering what he was making it's huge. I'm not saying the team is at fault but can you really hate Chad that much for not wanting to take that big of a cut. He was looking for some type of middle ground but I can't hate the guy for not wanting to take an 8 million dollar pay-cut.

Curtis can be cut in training camp if he doesn't belong. They can renegiotate now bring him in and depending on what we have keep him or cut him later.

i see it as very fair, curtis has earned his millions. Chad has already pocketed 22 mil and he has played his best ball when he was playing at a minimum salary. He hasn't honored his contract and his teammates are even against him for it. We are not going to pay the rest of that be salary to an egg. I like Chad, hes a great competitor and a man with fire, but he aint going to make it elsewhere. He doesnt have to take 1 mil but at least help out a team that already has given him 22mil in his pocket and he has played as much as brooks bollinger

There is no way Curtis is rushing for 1500 yards next season. It's great to wish but why can't people accept the fact that Martin is done. he had no push in his legs last year and the Oline was horrible on top of it. Don't tell me he looked good before he got hurt because he didn't look good in the KC game and Chad carried the team in the Miami game. Houston came in and had abou half as many yards as Martin in about 10 less games behind the same offensive line. My bet is that the Jets draft a RB and he and Houston will battle for the #1 spot. Martin will be the #3 if he decides to stay and Blaylock will be cut. Askew will be the fullback and Sowell will also be cut.

i tihnk the jets have too much loyalty to ever cut Curtis

a few years ago the smart move would have been to let curtis go and resign lamont but we kept martin, i odn think we are ever gonna cut him.

While I understand that there is going to be a competition for all spots including RB if Cedric Houston cannot beat out CMART then our running game is going to be real bad. This does not include the fact that our line will probable be real bad as well.

its possible if we have another power back to set up a tandem (JAMAL LEWIS)

if we had lewis and curtis we wouldnt need an amazing qb for the season, just run the ball EVERY PLAY

I'm with you on the Jets should ask him to take a paycut, the point I was getting at is it's unfair to compare Pennington's situation to Martins.

Let me finish this for you.

. . . Curtis has been on the field almost every game since becoming a Jet and has been the sole reason we have been competitive. Curtis has also renegotiated his contract in the past to help the Jets. Chad was given a huge contract and signing bonus after one year of play and is now asked to reduce his future comp to something more reasonable for a player of his ability. If Chad goes somewhere else he can expect much lower salary offers from other teams.

Signing Jamal Lewis is not the thing to do when you are trying to lower your cap numbers.
High priced FA's will not be signed or entertained.

Says Cedric is the only other viable running back currently on the Jets roster. Isn't Blaylock still here?

and that exactly why we need to trade out of the top 5, do you know how much a top 5 pick is going to cost? probably just as much as jamal.

And why do we lower cap numbers? not just for the sport of it, its to make room to sign other people

No he isn't, yesterday ESPN said that they don't want to pay a RB that much money for a RB with that much mileage on him that has clearly shown to slow down also with his bad knees, he ain't coming back to baltimore

This is not really true. First of all, the best player on the Jets during Curtis's entire career here is Kevin Mawae. Prior to getting hurt last season, he was the starting center in the pro bowl every year. The first year they got Kendall he was an absolute terror. Becht may have been bad at catching the ball, but he was a devastating blocker. You think it's a coincidence that Cadillac looked so good when they put Becht on that line and Curtis looked like he was running in mud? Throw in Fabini before he lost it, and THAT was the reason Curtis has had the career he has. To say it's ALL Curtis is silly. Parcells built a fine O-Line that could run AND pass Block and Bradway made an acquisition here and there to keep it the strenghth of the team. That's why we were good for years. Now they are falling apart at O-line and we suck. Again, not a coincidence.

I can see Houston being the starter. He might surprise some people next year. Last year he averaged nearly 4 ypc behind a pathetic O-line and with no passing threat.

Nah, I did an analysis of this before the site went down and posted up a whole bunch of numbers. It seems that a top 7 pick usually is a cap hit of $2M-$2.5M. A high pick really isn't that big of a deal. Especially if we get Cutler, since he isn't ridiculously hyped like Bush is.
