If a WR goes down, we're back to where we are now, which obviously is still good. No worries at all.

The Vikings will pick up Clowney this week. He will dress and play on Monday Night......and do nothing.

I'd laugh if the Vikes signed Clowney to pick his brain. His advice would consist of, "I don't know man, they're pretty fucking good".

    Cumberland
    Hartsock
    Keller
    Mulligan

4 TEs, do we really need all those guys?

Yes I would have liked to have kept the Clown over Mulligan or Cumberland. As a 4th WR I thinks he serviceable.

I wonder if Ben raped anyone during his off time??

I feel bad for Clowney, Turner was tall, and I get wood thinking about our offense and defense being 100% finally. (well minus Jenkins)

You picked a great game to come down for MB!

I was about to post this and saw you beat me to it. He's boys with Favre from their GB days, right?
Doesn't really matter though. I'm disappointed in Mr. August.

Hartsock and Mulligan are core ST players and important in our run game...

Cumberland is a very good prospect (according to Tanny).

Guess we're stuck with them for the season.

I'd keep all 4 of those TE's over Clowney. Not even a question. Cumberland is the only one I'd MAYBE cut, but Clowney has had how many years now to fulfill his potential? Time to move on, for good. Cumberland still has plenty of room before he hits his ceiling.

Rex was talking about Cumberland like he's the 2nd coming of Antonio Gates. You probably would cut Mulligan.

The sad part is I was just thinking about buying tickets to Clowney's Bowling even in Linden and he's gonna be off the team. Sucks....

Against the Vikings and their running game, I'd much rather have Howard Green in a uniform more so than Clowney/Turner.

If any injuries occur, Coles /Clowney or Turner will still be out there for us to sign.

I'm going to wait a few weeks before I get excited that the Clown is gone. Last time they dumped him they brought him back. He's just not a good football player. Mind you, I didn't say "not a good wide receiver." I said "not a good football player."

I think we might have seen the last of the Clown.

I think Clowney has run his course here and we'll move on. Having Holmes, Edwards and Cotch out there, thats an unreal trio of recievers. We still have Smith, Keller and LT to throw the ball to when needed. How many teams, let alone "run first" teams" have that kind of arsenal on the field? No worries, we are in great shape:beer:

    1. We are a 50% run 50% pass team... not a run first team, don't let Buffalo fool you.

    2. Sometimes it's just a numbers game... having 4 WRs allows you to rotate them more and keep them fresher. Clowney did that in many plays...
I'm not saying he isn't repleacable talent-wise, but that for ou O he would have been useful.

For any 4 wr plays, imo opponents will be more nervous if Brad Smith is one of the four rather than Clowney, who has never done anything.

  19. I think this designation is 2 fold.

    1. W/ Cotchery,Holmes,Edwards, Keller and LT out of the back field...Their just isn't a huge priority to fill that # 4 WR position beyond a guy like Brad Smith who contributes in so many different ways. Concieveably on a game to game basis there just isn't a real need to fill that spot. W/ the way we utilize TE's in tight formations, and the way Westhoff likes to use Blocking Te's like Hartsock and Mulligan, TE is a higher priority position when you get down into the 40's of the active roster. If a different WR goes down, we have guys like Clowney, Aundrae Allison, Marcus Henry & Patrick Turner on speed dial. All know this system well, offer different things and to my knowledge are currently street free agents.

    2. Cumberland maybe the most expendable but this team has been looking for a high ceiling young back up TE for a long time and has the laundry list of failures to show for it(Posciak, Dreesen, etc). There was obviously a priority put on updating the youth and depth of this position in the offseason as evident by the releasing of Dearth who took up a TE roster spot despite providing nothing to the position. Tanny knew if he released Cumberland, and attempted to bring him back to the PS he'd be added to someone else's active roster immediately. Chances are, the combination of Mulligan and Cumberland lead to Hartsock's release next offseason...at which point we'll be set at Tight end barring injury for a good long time. Both Cumberland and Mulligan just need some seasoning, While Hartsock holds down the # 2 TE spot in the meantime.
