Mr. T shook Clemens down to league minimum last year on "Hard Knocks" (IIRC). Hopefully KC was able to get some cash from Snyder. NFL careers don't last long. KC seems like a good enough dude. Hopefully he made some money this time around.
What happened to Jaws saying Kellen was the most NFL ready QB of all the QB's drafted back in 2006? After being in the league for 5 years, Kellen Clemens put up Ryan Leaf types of numbers. He won't be missed as a backup. Leaf had a career QB rating of 50. Completion % of 48.4. 14 TD's/36 INT's. Clemens has a career QB rating of 59.7 Completion % of 51.8. 5 TD's/11 INT's. Ok, so Clemens was a little better than Leaf, but still... He was a horrible backup.
Either he was absolutely terrible QB, or he got less-than-optimal coaching from the organization (from you-know-who). I seem to hear a lot that he had no business being in NFL. (And he somehow got drafted in 2nd round, of all rounds. Makes a world of sense to me, if you ask me.)
Clemens only real shot was in 2007, where he compiled most of those stats. That said, there must be a reason why almost every Jets coaching staff looked as the prospect of him starting and said "FUCK NO".
Clemens has all the tools except accuracy. I liked the idea of having him as a backup because I felt his decision-making skills improved over the past couple years. However, McElroy brings good accuracy and poise to the table. In my estimation, he's an improvement.
Exactly. First it was an often injured Pennington who Kellen couldn't start over, then it was a 40 year old QB in Favre who the Jets had to use as a one year stop gap (instead of giving Kellen the keys to the car), then I remember heading into the 2009 draft, Rex Ryan went on record saying that he's confident in KC's ability to lead the Jets. Next thing you know? We moved up the draft board to select Mark Sanchez, who started over Kellen as a rookie... despite the fact that he only had one year of college starting experience under his belt during his days with USC. I'm not even sure Kellen would have been able to beat out Brad Smith for a starting role under center. To make a long story short, this is addition by subtraction. When a 40 year old Mark Brunell gets more reps than you, you know you're doing something wrong.
On last years Hard Knocks in the meeting with Mr. T, he wore the faggiest flip fops I ever saw a man wear so good riddance girly man. Seriously, team guy and seems like a nice man and I wish him the best but he's not that good.
I disagree. He doesn't have any pocket presence, and he's not a quick enough decision maker to compensate for it so he's a sitting duck out there. The guy was never cut out to be an NFL QB.
Sorry Mr Forum Nazi Sir. I'll be more specific. Amy Winehouse couldn't throw a football so I'm glad she signed with the Redskins. The Skins sucks and so does she. With Kellen Clemens dead, I'll never have to hear about another concert where he was totally trashed and couldn't sing. Never understood why people kept buying tickets to his shows. Go fuck yourself.
