What can the incentives be if the pick could go as soon as the 4th round of this year? Its not like he can play to improve the pick as the pick could be ours as soon as April.

If Vilam turns into a one year rental then its jsut a 4th this year, but if he playes well and signs we can swap a 4th next year for a third or possibly a second. Very good value there seeing as we also have the skins 4th next year. A very complex deal that works for both side now and in the future.

That pick is ours, we'd have to trade back a 2009 4th rounder if incentives are met

Wow that is actually a great deal..... we get the pick now and if he has a good year we get another pick next year providing he re-signs with the Saints which if he has a good year is a possibility. If he stinks then we still got the pick now.

Ahh sweet so we get a 4th no matter what this year as well as another pick next year if Vilma signs a deal and plays healthy. Wed give up a day 2 pick to move up to the 2nd/3rd round.(We have 2 4ths that year, thank you Pete Kendall ;))

Not bad, not bad. We can strike gold in the 4th like we tend to do.

i have been impressed with Tanny so far and the original report of an 09 pick seemed outside of his MO

I like the way this was put together. Very creative deal that could wind up being huge next year.

So now we have two fourth round picks. Sweet. Also an opportunity for a third or second in exchange for our fourth round in 2009, if incentives are met?

Plus we still have that 4th rd pick from the Redskins so we'll still have at least 1 4th rd pick if we have to give up ours for this trade. I like it.

That article on scout.com was terribly worded. It made it sound like wed be getting a 4th round pick in 08 that could be turned into a higher pick in 09 based on Vilma reaching performance incentives. How can a pick that we would use in 08 turn into a pick that we could use in 09? Thats 2 picks then, not 1. Am I the only one who read it that way?

These are the most complex one player trades i've seen as a jet in the last 10 years.

Now that's a better deal. Now lock up faneca, trade d-rob, sign a few more needs and move on to the draft.
