#16 and our own 1st next year - I would do it. I have a feeling the way things are now we will end up with 5-6 wins, and pick around 7-10 with top QBs off the board, so we will be looking at a second tier for QBs, if there even will be second tier. With stroud who knows, maybe he can turn these 5-6 wins into 8-9, compete for the play-offs finally, heck maybe even win 10 and make it? A pipe dream I know. Don't get that car ready for Houston pick up trip just yet, Dog.
I just wouldn’t do it sorry. For a second this year and another pick sure. Not giving up two firsts for a QB a team doesn’t want. If they are trying to get rid of him that bad, shouldn’t that tell us something?
I would do it, particularly given the (low) probability that we develop a young QB. I just don't believe the rumors are true.
I've never understood why the "Fake Spike" game is called that, given that Marino never performs anything that looks remotely like a fake spike. Or even has to. It should have been called the "Dumb Fucks" game.
Hope: That play happened his rookie year. His 11th career game (he was inactive week 11). He was able to play 14 more years and 194 more games in the league after that. Maybe he did learn something, and maybe he can again. Hope?
I don't think it is fair to say Glenn hasn't learned anything from that dumb play in his rookie year after he had a decorated career. Doesn't make him a good coach, but that play is largely irrelevant to him being a coach now.
The Super Bowl this year told me something about that type of quarterback. It told me that teams make mistakes like this all the time. Forget us - think about Minnesota last year getting rid of Sam. Stroud has been very good. This year in the regular season, in 14 games, he threw for 3,041 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions with a 64.5% completion percentage and a 92.9 passer rating. Now, the last time we had a QB who played that well was 2017 (Josh McCown) and we sucked that year too, so it's a reasonable point that this may not be enough to get us to good. But we haven't had a QB play even that well since (Sam in '19 was close, but too many picks). I don't see why we can't strive for that.
