That's totally besides the point. The chances of picking a player at 18 that becomes elite is a million times more likely than picking a player in the sixth round that is elite. The point was this guy was saying we should trade back and get picks (not unreasonable) because no player will be elite at 18 anyway (unreasonable). At 18 there is still a legitimate chance of picking a player that becomes elite.
That WAS the point, elite players can be picked anywhere just like bums can..go back and look at the first round picks over the last 10 years and see just how many weren't elite.
The higher you pick, the more options you have, the more talented players are available. Sure we can go back and count how many first round players are bums, and there will be plenty, but that number will be dwarfed in comparison by the number of bums from the sixth round. They are just low profile bums. Tom Brady being found in the sixth round really isn't a valid argument for anything because of just how unusual it is, except maybe to make a point of evaluating the low pick players on your team extra carefully.
Don't be surprised if Idzik trades down. There are so many good receivers. If the Jets like a few of them there is no reason not punt and get more picks in the second and third round. If they are confident in their scouting then they should be bold and go for it.
It depends on who they would be targeting. If they want Cooks or Beckham, I think those two will go 22, 23 respectively to the Eagles and Chiefs. We could drop back to 21 if the Packers are targeting someone but I'm not sure who that would be.
