the problem with nick saban is that he cant hand over cash and pretty women to 17 year old kids in the nfl. he is a master recruiter, he has had the best talent in the land for the past 4 years and is more than willing to douchebag any team he is with for a "better" opportunity. that said i hope someone hires him on monday because it will help notre dame in the national championship game, and they need all the help they can get.
haha bring back jimmy johnson and rename the place extenz field at metlife stadium then we can have a bunch of boners walking around during pregame and hand out extenz to all the drunk old men.
This is all predicated on Saban telling the truth. And considering "I'm not going to be the Alabama coach", I don't know why anybody would believe his revisionist history about wanting Brees over Culpepper. Not to mention part of the reason we stunk was also his inability to adapt to coaching grown men instead of kids, and poor drafting. Saban had final say over all personnel issues. I'd say go for it. I think he would bomb again as an NFL coach, and I already hate the guy so no waste of energy hating the new Jets coach lol
Nick Saban isn't coming back to college until he gets hit with sanctions. He's much more suited for the college game. He'll never be a dominant NFL HC.
The owner hires everybody if he wants to. and if the owner tells a GM candidate that he is keeping Rex, that candidate can either accept that condition or not take the job. so, no, firing Tanny in no way equates to firing Rex.
Clinkscales was central to creating the stench here over the last 10 years(?). Why the f--- would you bring him back, in an elevated position no less? I want a complete purge. Wash out the whole thing with summer's eve. Pour a bucket of Drano over it, then incinerate.
Ha! I'd trade Revis but his value has most likely diminished after missing almost all year. Our defense wasn't much worse without him and trading him would help us unload that huge contract + avoid the headaches of his annual holdout threats.
The Jets drafts the past two years actually haven't been bad. Looking in two years of likely 7 starters (Wilkerson, Ellis, Powell, Kerley, Coples, Hill, Davis) with the chance of a few more (McElroy, Bush, Allen) to at least play a meaningful role. It's 08 through '10 that was the reason why we are where we're at now
I don't disagree that the past two drafts haven't been bad, but I'm not ready to assume that Bilal Powell, Stephen Hill and Demario Davis will be quality NFL starters on a big time team. I also don't know if Josh Bush and Antonio Allen will be anything more than depth/special team players. And I don't see Greg McElroy as anything more than an NFL backup so I'm not sure how meaningful of a role he'd really play. But yeah, MoWilk, Q and Kerley for sure all look like they'll be quality players.
Here is something Woody might be thinking, he brings in Norv Turner as OC and if he can turn the offense around, but Rex still can't control the team next year he can promote Norv to HC in 2014 rather than having Rex as a lame duck. The if is can he turn around the offense and get Sanchez to play, that would be a a trick worthy of being the next HC.
My ideal guy to give a shot at HC is Tom Clements. He is entering his 21th season in the coaching profession, is in his 17th NFL season. Just might be able to make Sanchez a good QB, since he has done better with worse. Also, try to trade Sanchez for Matt Flynn who he knows and would be a step up from Sanchez.
This is the Walt Michaels becomes Joe Walton scenario. That was a loser for the Jets. I think you hire the new GM and then let him work through the progression he thinks is best, which may or may not include keeping Rex.
i want bruce arians for something, i just dont know what. if rex is fired than i 100% want him as our coach. its not by coincidence that while chuck pagano was coaching, the colts were well below .500, but once arians took over they've been good. hes made a mediocre roster play well.
