Here's my issue with this.. If by Jets do they mean Rex Ryan? Do they mean Woody Johnson? The Owner is supposed to pick the GM - GM picks the Coach - and Coach picks the offensive coordinator. Seeing as how they could be looking for a new GM shortly, and the jury is still out on Rex, why in the hell would they have their sights on an O-coordinator? Maybe Rex has his eyes on Norval, and that's better, but who's to say Rex will be here next year? If it's Woody then it's bullshit... He shouldn't be micro-managing to that level.
When he had 2 weeks to prepare for us in the playoffs how did that work out? Nobody cares what you do in the regular season if you want to win a SB you need coaches who can game plan matchups not run over a mediocre league with superior talent.
Is Tannebaum trying to save his job right now? Maybe they will be willing to give him one more season since the SB is in our stadium?
I live in Reno, there's no way Chris Ault would ever leave Nevada. Besides he's known as a Sabanesque control freak that I doubt would get along with egotistical professionals
I'm sure I would. The guy is solid as a rock and will bring a desciplined approach to this team, he knows the game, he is connected and he is sound.
The reason the Phins stunk with them is because they gave him Daunte Culpepper instead of Drew Brees - which is who he wanted
Or it could just be that it's who Rex wants, and that's what the report means about committing money to offense because it would cost Woody a pretty penny to fire Sparano and then hire Turner. But that would just make too much sense for Jet fans so we have to go crazy.
Nonesense, the playoffs are about matchup football and Norv has had the upper hand in talent and underperformed. He would get us to the playoffs and that's not enough. Herm got us to the playoffs when he had talent.
Norv would be just what Rex needs, a coach to run the whole offense and who can do so competently. Also Norv might have enough rep where Rex will listen to him on offensive personnel matters. Ideally, if Woody wants to keep the status quo they bring in Norv as OC, who then brings in a new QB coach among other things. Click becomes GM, Tanny sticks around as a cap specialist. It's no different than Bradway sticking around after he left. It's not like Bradway is that bad at scouting either, too bad Tanny didn't listen to him this year: http://www.fantasysp.com/player/nfl...nnel-executive-terry-bradway-adamantly-wanted Jets senior personnel executive Terry Bradway adamantly wanted to draft Russell Wilson in April, to the point that Wilson became known as "Russell Bradway" around Jets headquarters in the early spring
So here are some questions: 1. Is Saban going to stick with the evolving 46 front or is he going to shoehorn the Jets into a 3-4 that the personnel is not there for? There's no room to draft 3-4 linebackers at this point. If the Jets don't rebuild the offense they're going to suck moving forward and so you can't spend the 3 high picks the Jets need to spend right now to build out a 3-4 LB corps. 2. So he got slammed in Fintown because he got Daunte Culpepper instead of Drew Brees? The Jets have nobody on hand at QB who can hold either of those guys jockstraps at the time the Fins made the choice. If he failed in Miami because he got the wrong QB what's going to happen to him in NY with no QB? 3. How is he going to deal with the fact that the Jets talent on offense and defense is mostly prime to late-prime and he doesn't have the pieces to put together a run right now? Harris, Mangold, D'Brick, Cromartie, Landry, Holmes, the clock is all ticking like mad on those guys right now and the odds are they are worse players due to age in two seasons. Revis is going to laugh his way out of town unless he gets hurt again next season. A rebuilding administration would cut bait on most of the guys listed above and get what value they could out of them in the form of picks. What is a guy like Saban with his rep on the line going to do?
The Jets should of followed the 90s Cowboys Model the minute they hired Rex Ryan. Perfect example of how the Jets should of been. I thought Mark Sanchez's career would be something like a Troy Aikman - where he played average in the regular season, but when the playoffs came he turned his game up a notch. Cowboys had a great defense and strong running game as well.
If the Jets had drafted Russell Wilson he would have failed. I don't see Marshawn Lynch in the Jets backfield and the WR's stink.
