The thing I don't like now is, you get a score, then a long break, then a kickoff, then another long break. So you have maybe 10 minutes betwen plays from scrimmage. If you're at the game it's the perfect time to hit the can if you have to, but otherwise it's a drag.
dude, i wholeheartedly agree. how dumb are they to not want to collect on the massive economic juggernaut that is the superbowl. that would wipe out the stadium debt real quick.
Not only that, but a roof would also mean a lot more parking and concession money by reducing the no shows come December. Woody could have built in Queens, had his OWN stadium with a roof, and recouped the money with Super Bowls, final fours, indoor concerts in the winter, etc etc.. Instead, he's still the Mara's Bitch. Wait till you see Jets stadium smack dab in the middle of Giants World Headquarters. He's a wuss.
99% of the people are hard core fans that love the game as much as I do. The drunken fan screaming and being obnixous is 1%. You sound like someone that never gets out with this statements. Yes, there are tons of commercials and it sucks, that part I agree but its always been like that. But I can watch whatever I want at the game. You have to watch uplcose views of the coaches face, stupid stats, fans, replays of the same play 10 times and then, with 1 second before the ball is snapped they show you the field. I know who's coming on and coming off, what the alignment is and I can watch any part of the field from my seats and I would not give that up for anything but 5k PSL's
Well, first off, 1% would be 500 obnoxious drunk people. The odds of one of them close to you are pretty good. And with season tickets, you're pretty much stuck where you are. If you enjoy sitting there for three hours with lots of commercial breaks to see 16 minutes of action I'm happy for you. I'd rather not do that. And you're wrong about the commercial time. As I said, go watch Super Bowl III. There were far fewer commercials back in the day. Yes there are certain advantages to watching a game live. You can certainly see the plays develop better. But to me the negatives far outweigh the positives. To each their own.
You obviously don't attend live football games. There's so much more to it than the "16 minutes" you describe. But sit on your couch and flip your channels. I'm sure you'll get a real taste of life that way. In fact, might as well do it with all that you're interested in. After all, watching television is just as good as being there.
Fair enough. Its not for everyone. I look forward to sitting home and watching the Jets after the previous weeks home game and I look forward to going to a home game after the previous weeks road game. I love interacting with my jet family in my section during the so called downtime that you describe, you remember, interacting with other humans, we do not sit there and stare at the field waiting for action. Also hanging with my boys for 8 hrs 8 Sunday's a year eating and drinking like pigs without women or kids. I also dig having 3 tv's going for 8 hrs. and having the wife cook me a hot meal and turning the TV off at 7:30 pm and I am home. I just hate the production of NFL games more then the downtime at the games. I get really mad when they show the field 1 second before the snap
Everyone has there own view on this, but to me, if you cant enjoy a live NFL experience, even with a drunk behind you (and i deal with many of them, the guys behind me have been selling there seats the last few seasons to fans of other teams, nothing worse than dolphins and eagles fans), then im not so sure you appreciate the game at the level you think you do. as far as the too many commercials go, if they cut that then the PSL will be too high for half of wall street as well. Also, 16 minutes? the game runs way more than that buddy. if you can only find 16 minutes of football then you are missing good stuff. Basically, I dont think that these minor things should be that much of a detraction from the beauty that is professional football live and in person, but like many have said before me, to each his own.
dude, he was being generous with the 16 minutes. unless youre counting watching people run on and off the field, there is noting to see.
i guess you guys dont watch the game as closely as others. to me there is plenty going on that interests me. maybe thats cuz i played as a kid and love every in and out of the game as a whole, but i take interest in everything from the play in the trenches to the big time showstopper plays (that the jets dont make anywhere near enough of)
I am sure I can get use to watching a Jets Home game on TV real fast. Don't get me wrong I love going to the games, tailgaiting etc. but most of the games actually suck. Especially when you have to endure a terrible season. If you are a "football" fan, one of the worst things is when there is a 4PM home game. If you have NFLST, you miss every game except the one you are at. I can not see paying an additional fee for my tix. I guarantee I can get tickets to every game from other sources such as the internet or even in the parking lot. Tailgate parties would be in the backyard!
all I know is i'm pissed I renewed my tixx for this season. I was on the fence as it was, and the PSL thing was just going to clinch my decision to take my cash/business elsewhere. definitely not re upping next season, so this will be my last......and I'm sure they'll make it suck for me again, as usual
Umm, sure there is. There's that great halftime show. The drive through traffic to the game. The crappy weather conditions. I'm sure I can come up with more if I work on it. And if going to a professional football came is your idea of tasting life, I feel for you. To me there are so many more rewarding experiences.
I've been to many live football games and it's just not worth it to me, especially with young children. And please tell me what more there is than the 16 minutes of action, because that's all I see. And actually 16 minutes is probably being generous. There are approximately 120 plays in a football game. Let's say on average each play takes 8 seconds (that's being generous). That's 960 seconds or 16 minutes of action. And as I said before, there are some nice things about being at the game, the main being able to see the entire field and watch the play develop. But at this stage of my life, with my priorities, that's simply not enough to overcome all the negatives.
So what yur saying is most of our games suck and its better to watch the games on TV. You sound like someone I know who pretends to love football but its just an excuse to sit on his ass and do nothing.
one thing that will probably happen with the PSL's will be that the experience will certainly be more family friendly......wealthy family friendly. Your average hard core Jet fan that tailgates and has a few beers will be priced out. It'll definitely be a place to bring over privelaged children.
Seems like you really enjoy the experience with your family and that's great. I just don't get the same feeling. I used to love going to games when I was younger, but there is so much wrong with sports these days I find it difficult supporting them financially, even in a small way. Professional sports is a business, with huge dollars at stake. It's not like when I was a kid and athletes played the game because they loved the sport. Now it's all about the money, women, power, etc. I'm sort of going off on a tangent here, but hopefully you get my point. Between the state of sports and the conditions I've experienced numerous times at games, it's just not fun for me to attend them live at this point. P.S. Thanks for the civil discussion. If people behaved this way at games I wouldn't have the same issues. :metal:
funny thing is, now that I think about it......as far as going to games goes.......the best part of it for me is the anticipation. the pre game, the drive there and the tailgating......from there, especially with the Jets it's usually downhill. usually dealiong with a loss and a huge traffic jam, as well as a bit of an early hangover...... ok ... Anyone wanna buy my seasons this year! I'm not going anymore.........I just decided you can even take ownership.... screw em
I am not pretending anything. Just stating facts. The number of games that actually suck far outweigh the good games. I have been to over 200 games and there have been a handful of memorable games. I enjoy going, but to plop down thousands of dollars extra to endure the mediocre teams that I have seen isn't worth it.
