The other thing about the turnovers killing us is that it's not just Sanchez. His are the most glaring but we've seen Shonn Greene give it away twice now in limited action, one was run back for a TD, Keller's at the goal line, Edwards had a huge fumble in the Jax game-he carries the ball out there like a stolen purse, Cotchery had a bad fumble in a key spot earlier in the year, too. So while Sanchez has done his part, it's been a team-wide epidemic this year, none of which the OC can do much about except extra drills on carrying the football, I guess.

I was thinking the other day how the only guy regularly handling the ball who has been relatively careful with it is Thomas Jones. That imo is much to his credit. And compares favorably to Greene. Compare the number of carries to fumbles. I know that Greene's two makes for more of a small sample, but it is still somewhat troubling.

Whatever the cause for the epidemic, at least Jones has not been affected.

And of course it's not the OC's fault this has been going on. That won't stop some here from blaming him for it anyway.

    Wrong link...

I must say that site is great... how about we exchange a banner with them/him? I always use it to get Cap infos but I think the analysis are VERY well done...

I think it is pretty objective and I agree with most all of its conclusions. It is critical of Shotty's system and play calling, but it is the data, not the author, that is doing the damning.

So what I can gather is that Schotty doesn't protect a rookie when he needs it most and throws way too much on 3rd and short.

Can someone please fire this asshole before Sanchez becomes the 2nd Ken O'Brien?

I dont think Schotty will get "fired". He'll pull the old "It's time to move on" bit. I really think that Schotty went overboard with Sanchez...his motivation being that it would be a great resume builder for a HC position.

I'm all for Callahan...he did some good work in Oakland. Shit ...if he did good there...he can do good anywhere.

I would like for as many guy's to read the article but this to me is the most telling statement of this article, this is the last paragraph:

There has been too much talk about benching Mark Sanchez as if that will somehow solve the problems the Jets have. Odds are anyone they put back there is going to have the same problems Sanchez has simply due to the offensive style. They will have problems converting on 3rd down and they will turn the ball over at a very high rate. If they design an offense to protect Sanchez in the pocket and give him easy targets the way the Falcons and Ravens did all this talk should go away. He is playing better than Flacco, but because Flacco was insulated by a better more QB friendly system he looked like a stud rookie. If the Jets can get Schottenheimer to do the same there will be a decent chance that Sanchez will also look like a star in 2009. :eek:hmy:

So far Scotty has Coordinated 2 Td's tonight. Sanchez overthrew one and Edwards dropped one.

    shotgun shotgun shotgun.

give me the power running game cutesy. It got you to the redzone, then we deviate from what works.

learn to set a fucking tone. Its what wins football games.

When your team misses 2 wide open TD's and you lead by 6 at the half, your problem is the players. They might have to put stickum on Edwards facemask.

No the plays are working, but I still don't agree with the philosophy.

I could sit here and say that the dropped passes could have been runs and they'd be setting a tone blah blah blah but it doesn't do anybody any good.

I just want to see more running against a team that picked off sanchez 5 times. Greene needs the ball more. Holy shit can that kid hit the hole and hurt people at the second level.

I have to say that was Brians best called game of the season. One or two plays where I shook my head(Cotchery pass behind the line), but all around very smart. Especially the misdirection run plays. Sanchez, Edwards and Clowney left 3 TD's out. Not Schotty's fault.

I'll agree that this was the 1st game that all game I wasn't pissed off the entire time. I still hate passing on 1st and 10, and there was no tone set with the run until Sanchez got hurt.

Schotty haters can't go to crazy with this one. That 1st series was bullshit though.

Schotty called a very good game.

So good, in fact, that Rex and him had a pretty emphatic high-five on camera.

I could have called that game last night. Just run the ball down their throats and put a few passes in there. Buffalo's rushing defense SUCKS.
