I mean it's possible magini was putting his input into the draft but at the end of the day the GM gets final say so gets the credit and the shit

Ok, but Tanny was hired as GM in 2006, his last season was 2012.
Mangini was coach from 2006 to 2008
Rex was coach from 2009 to 2014

Players who played 5+ seasons with the Jets (excluding backup QBs):
2006 (10 picks) - D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Eric Mangold, Eric Smith, Brad Smith, Leon Washington, Drew Coleman
2007 (4 picks) - Darrelle Revis, David Harris
    2008 (5 picks) - Dustin Keller
    2009 (3 picks) - None
    2010 (4 picks) - Kyle Wilson
2011 (6 picks) - Muhammad Wilkerson, Bilal Powell, Jeremy Kerley
    2012 (8 picks) - Demario Davis (2 stints)

2008 draft was a disaster, especially with 2 first rounders (although I will say that Dustin Keller was a quality TE, maybe not top tier, but he was very important to those to AFCC teams). However, the quality in the 2006 & 2007 draft absolutely destroy 2009-2012. 2011 was the only decent post-Mangini Tanny draft. If the Jets consistently drafted like 2006, 2007, heck I'll even say 2011 they'd be much more successful than right now. Just think that Macc was supposed to be the guy to change that and he sucked just as bad as the rest. Their drafting is an embarrassment.

I wonder if it was more the influence of rex getting in MTs way, but then I seen how he's drafted in miami so i'm thinking his 1st 2 years were a fluke and last I seen mangini isnt' even in the NFL anymore so hard to say he did any good or he still would be.

Hard to say, the best you can get for Mangini is the 2009 & 2010 Browns drafts. 2009 got Alex Mack and not much else. 2010 got Joe Haden & TJ Ward. Either way, he has a good TV gig, I doubt we'll ever see him go back. He should have probably went the executive route if he wanted to stay in the NFL after he failed in Cleveland, but that's another story. Although, after Spy Gate I'm sure a lot of teams soured on him.

yeah nobody likes a whistle blower which is dumb because people should hate on the people doing the shady shit, not the one calling them out, but sadly that's how things go
