The 2014 Idzik draft class, the one where we had 14 picks!!! Only a couple of them are still in the league. The rest of them are either playing in Canada or free agents.

it's funny because we ran MT out of town. he was the GM from 2006 to 2012. mind you he's been awful in miami but for the jets with him as a GM
we made the playoffs 3 times, 2 of them to the AFC champ game
his 1st rounders started off with brick, mangol, and revis. then somehow it all went downhill. only good 1st rounder after that was wilkerson. say what you want about him in the end but wilkerson was a great pick and was amazing on his rookie deal. maybe it was the injury or the laziness after he got paid but for his 1st 4 years was a beast. richardson was a pretty solid pick too. not sure what happened to him overall as he never progressed or kept it up. but his 1st 2 years were great.

Personally, I think it was more Mangini than Tanny. Mangini had the huge bust with Gholston, otherwise he was awesome with finding talent. You can see how when Rex came along the draft quality went down with the same GM. Mangini was a huge piece.

It's true. Look at the quality of drafting when Mangini was here vs Rex. Same GM, pretty much the same scout team. Only one explanation. He may not have been an amazing coach, but he was a way better evaluator of talent compared to everyone they've had since.

Shitting on the people you hired doesn't show you care, it shows he has washed his hands of responsibility for the results.

It's not they care it's we care.

Exactly. It also absolves the coach of any responsibility by putting the onus on the players.

does it though? is it possible to criticize the players ever? or by doing so, in your mind, does that "absolve" the responsibility of the coaches & front office every time?

I'm not sure the owner should ever publicly criticize players, the GM or the coach. The owner isn't like us fans. He has the power to do something about it, so he doesn't have to shoot off his mouth in public. When an owner makes a critical comment about the team, I have to wonder if it's simply a PR move designed to mollify a pissed-off fanbase.

    WTF?

    ok, well I disagree

for 1 thing he's the one paying them millions and millions of dollars. That gives him the right to criticize in my opinion

Reasonable minds can disagree. Maybe I have a skewed perspective as a Yankee fan who has unpleasant memories of George Steinbrenner dominating the back pages of the tabloids and making an ass of himself by calling out and attacking players, coaches, etc. with numbing regularity.

it would be one thing if Christopher Johnson like issued an official statement with PR involved or something. If we are talking about the same thing, he's just talking 1 on 1 to a fan, and its not even that bad. The WTF was more like.. what are you talking about? like it makes me wonder if I missed something

It was the '80s. They did well in the regular season but didn't make the post season from, what, 1982 to 1995. They didn't get good again until Steinbrenner was suspended for the Howie Spira mess. When Steinbrenner was reinstated in the '90s, he was considerably quieter than in the past, although he did erupt periodically.
