"You win this thing you hear me? You win this thing." - Herm to Dungy. And he said something like "I showed up?"
Well, it happened - the Colts won a playoff game even when Manning stunk. Herm to Tony at the handshake - "You win this thing, you hear?" Gee, Herm, maybe you should have worried a little more about your team winning? The receivers for the Chiefs were beyond awful, but this was yet another poorly-coached Herm Edwards game. That's what happens when you're lucky to get into the postseason.
I'm starting to think Dungy and Lovie just keep Herm around as a token stupid friend, so they can feel better about themselves or get a good guffaw when he says something idiotic.
Final Score: 23-8 Colts. The Colts are headed to Baltimore in what should be a great game. The Chiefs defense showed up and did a great job early on. Ty Law had a great performance against Peyton, as he always does. It's shame he couldn't be doing that for the Jets this season. The Chiefs offense, however, flat out sucked. Larry Johnson did nothing, and the Chiefs receivers did nothing. Sure, in the 4th qtr they had a drive, where it showcased the two TEs in Gonzalez and Wilson. Whatever. I'm glad the Colts won. If we win tomorrow, we play SD, and I rather play them.
Even though the Colts technically won, I feel I should congratulate you for finally getting rid of that mental midget last year.
According to someone on a KC board, Herm told a reporter after the game that he was rooting for the Colts all the way to the SB, with a big smile on his face. Nice of him to start rooting at 4 PM today.
If that's true, Herm should be fired tonight!! No way in hell should a losing coach come out with a statement like that on the same day his team gets its collective ass SMOKED in front of a national audience.
He shouldn't be fired for that, although it isn't the best thing to say shortly after a playoff loss. What does saying that have to do with the Chiefs? Nothing. He should have waited a couple days before saying such a thing.
What that reflects on, at least IMO, is Edwards isn't too upset that his team got smoked by his buddy. I mean come on, if this was a well played game by his team, then yeah, wish your opponent success. His response to me just reeks of complacency. Tomorrow? Yeah, wish Dungy well. Today after getting your ass kicked? Show some pride and at least pretend to be pissed off.
With all that's been made out of Belichick and his childish refusal to look guys in the eye after a loss after watching Herm's pathetic display and looking like he just won the lottery after the game today, I realized as a fan I'd much prefer the immature, surly Belichick reaction.
Presumably there's a middle ground somewhere? It really is true that Herm looked positively giddy after the game as he gave Dungy a big hug. If I'm a Chiefs fan that certainly pisses me off bigtime.
Third NFL/AFL playoff game to end with a team scoring exactly 8 points. 1950 American Conference playoff: Cleveland Browns 8, New York Giants 3 1963 Eastern Division playoff: Boston Patriots 26, Buffalo Bills 8
