He might have done better if he threw left handed. The bottom line is you can not coach or teach CATCHING. Wr's that can't catch are Cornerbacks!
With our current state Cb opposite Revis I would feel better if Brad Smith was taking reps there as opposed to Wr.
stuckey and henry are both solid WR's who will make the team without a doubt. i say its moreso a race between the two as to who gets 3rd and who gets 4th WR spot. i saw alot of both in college and we got great value in both of them. one thing for sure definitely will be a good competition. then we'll have Clowney and Wright prolly battle for a 5th spot.
I can see the team holding onto Wright even if he falls below 5 on the depth chart- he's that good on ST. I'd be so bold as to say that it's a dead-heat between him and Smith as to who stood out last year.
Wright had a respectable TC last year as I recall. There were some catches I remember that showed he had good extension and wasn't afraid to mix it up to go after the ball. He kind of fell between the cracks with all the other stuff going on... and all the attention was on Coles and McCareins and Cotchery and watching to see how Stuckey was doing. Here's a fact I'll bet you guys didn't know: Wright finished third on Jets in '07 with 16 special teams tackles.
I imagine that Smith was either 1 or 2- so who was the other? Kassel/Chatham? (I always confuse those two).
I'm not sure, Koz. I just found that stat by accident when I was looking at Wright's numbers for last year... kind of surprised me that he made so many tackles. Smith has to be 1 or 2 though.... probably #1.
It looks like Stuckey is going to enter camp as the #3 receiver. Brad Smith is now the #4 http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/ny-spjets295706069may29,0,3414848.story
Good for him. Hopefully we can see what he's all about during the regular season this year. Exciting news for our offense.
That article may be a bit old, but this is the first I saw of it. From my fantasy football website (cbssportsline) Stuckey to start camp as No. 3 WR Chansi Stuckey, WR NYJ News: Newsday reports that when the Jets broke their most recent offseason minicamp, second-year WR Chansi Stuckey was third on the depth chart. It's a spot he'll have entering training camp, where he hopes to fend off third-year WR Brad Smith and rookie Marcus Henry. Head coach Eric Mangini is impressed with Stuckey's habits off the field. "What I liked about Chansi last year is he was very involved the whole time he was not involved," Mangini said. "He was diligent in his preparation. He was diligent in trying to stay part of what was happening with the offense. Sometimes you have a guy that goes on IR, especially a young guy, they can get lost. They start the next year and they're no better than they were when they got there." Analysis: The Jets haven't had a real slot presence since Wayne Chrebet burst on the scene years ago. Stuckey has a foot that he's broken twice since his senior year at Clemson which cost him his rookie year in '07. He's got some great speed and should be considered one to watch for those owners in deep leagues or dynasty/keeper leagues. If he can keep the job, he might merit a late-round pick in those types of formats this summer. We'll keep an eye on him and fill you in on what he does as the summer rolls on.
was that eric mangini or sperm edwards saying "...is he was very involved the whole time he was not involved" i found that absolutely hermish i am really really pulling for this kid and i really think he can add something to this team. he is a ballsy kid who i hope will stay healthy as he is definitely the 3rd best receiver we have!
