In 02 we ranked 23 in TD's 03 21 04 12 06 25th. Chad is praised for not making mistakes in the red zone but we are not good at all at scoring TD's which is one of the reasons we wasted a 2nd round pick on a kicker, we don't score TD's in the red zone.

I did a short analysis on that topic a couple of months ago:

    http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=19647&page=2&highlight=zone+redzone

To summarize: the Jets get into the redzone only about 73% of the time that the league leader does and they score only about half as many TD's as the league leader from the redzone. That's conservative playcalling and likely the inability to pass well inside the 20.

As an additional topic - the Jets get only 13 points a game out of their redzone offense over the last 4 seasons. That's a very low number for the league as a whole. The average points scored from the redzone is nearly 17 a game.

The O-line is the key, and if our running game improves over last year Chad is the guy who has the experiance to run this team over KC. His arm will be stronger after another year of rehab. My prediction is, CHAD WILL LEAD US TO THE PROMISED LAND. Allentown Ernie.

It's also the inability to run out to the perimeter. We never have a RB that can score from 5 to 7 yards out, generally speaking we can only run between the Tackles up close, and thats hard to do regularly.

Those two items are symbiotic, in that the lack of perimeter speed allows the defense to bunch in the middle, and bear down on the QB and the RB.

I disagree. I thought Chad's arm looked better than ever until about mid season, when he seemed to get tired. That is to be expected after a full offseason of rehab.

Yep. The Jet's redzone offense for the last few seasons has been runs up the middle and passes to the outside. That's kind of a prescription for flat production down low.

I'd give a lot just to see Chad throwing in the box from inside the 15 this year. I'm sure he throws the occasional TD pass over the middle but they're few and far between. I don't need Brett Favre throwing at the goalpost on every down type production but it would be nice to see a consistent threat there to make the linebackers play a bit looser over the middle.

Good question. You don't need the bruising back always in the game on the 5 to 9 yard line. It'd be nice to see some misdirection and use of the only axis (sideline to sideline) that does not shrink in the redzone.
