We could pick up D'brick at #4 hes not the best run blocker but he is one hell of a pass blocker (the passing game helps the running game). Get Mangold at # 29 if he is still avilable. At #35 get FB Berstein (Wis) one hell of a blocker or TE Pope (Geo), Lewis (ucla) or Fasano (ND) with these picks if they player as well as the scout think they can it would be a solid ball control offence. That would help with Chad passing style.

This way we go into next year with 2 Glaring weaknesses, QB and RB. Awesome!!!

    This years draft (Day 1):

1a. OL (if we stay at 4 I fear we'll take DBshaw... Over rated prospect and not a fit here in my opinion, but it fills a need for a OL. I'm hoping we trade out somewhere in the 7 to 12 pick area and try to pick up another 2nd and a 3rd rounder or some combination of picks.

1b. RB Face it fellas, we need one. Don't be surprised to see blaylock bounced in pre season, reguardless of his 1.5 million dollar hit

    2. OL They are gonna hope Mangold slips into this round if everything stays status quo with our picks, reguardless, another OL or possibly a NT with this pick.

3a. BPA Probably a LB or a CB. changing to a 3-4 front, we need to get faster in the secondary. Look for speed guy that can get sideline to sideline to be taken here

Two offensive linemen with the first two picks then a FB in the second round? I see where you're going (and yes O-line is a HUGE need) but IMO we need to target a playmaker (offensive or defensive) in the first round.

And I doubt Chad is our starter. 2 shoulder injuries + 1 weak arm = Patrick Ramsey in week 1.

We do need to get a playmaker but I was figuring that we could get that next year with our top 5 pick.

It is being realistic, look at every player that is seen as a playmaker if they dont have a solid base of role players they dont do much other then look good on a losing team. All of the teams that have had a winning season after winning season have had good Olines, TEs, FBs, and DF. We can start building the role players and then get the other pieces. And I really don't think we are going to do very good this year we are rebuilding I am looking down about 3 years to be back in the hunt.

Cedric Houston could equal our thunder in a "thunder & lightning" back system.
Drafr a fast quick, break-the-big-run back in the mid-rounds to complament cedric houston for the future...

First nice icon or what ever it is called great band (Dropkick Murphys as well) I think Houston well be a great back if he has the right people around him, Chad in a ball control offense would be an all pro if he can stay healthy. My point is that you need time for thing to come togher we are not going to be a winning team next year but in 3 years we could go all the way. But just getting a superstar that doesnt care about the team and is just worried about his own stats and money doe not help a team win.

I think Houston is gonna' be a monster once he gets his stamina up. And I do believe this is the first offseason in a long time where he's feeling like himself.

Yeah Mick, they are the Dropkick Murphys. This Blaylock thing brings something else up- as soon as he gets hurt everyone seems to look down on him too. Wow, we are really losing our tolerance for injuries arent we?:eaglessuck:

Not to turn the Jets message board into a music chat room but I am figuring that there was some sort of sarcasim in this that I missed because the Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Mollys are too different bands.

Martin IS a hall of famer, but it won't be because of 2006. We finally got rid of Birdbrain Bradway and Martin's father Herman Edwards who never thought Chrebet or Martin (or 42 year old Vinny) should sit. Let's move ON with someone who IS our future. Although I like the new FO, wer're not going to the playoffs in 06, so why waste another year with Martin when he is not our future at that position? I think the jets MUST use of their three picks in the top 35 for a top flight RB--why wait until next year? I'd like to see the jets release Martin and Blaylock after July 1, and go with fresh legs in Houston and a first round pick as RB in 2006--Probably not popular, but like I said, Birdbrain and Herm are FINALLY gone.

And some people are saying that with QB but of course lets ignore those people and draft a QB as soon as possible because we want one :breakdance:

Houston/Blaylock are most likely going to be change of pace backs at best, just like Penny/Ramsey are probably going to be most likely backup quality QBs both positions need to be addressed, and with our picks we can easily get a quality starting RB for a long time with our 29th pick and not have to waste a high pick next year

I was extremely high on Houston after the Miami game last year, even though he fumbled at a crucial point in the game. He REALLY reminded me of Eddie George...he has TREMENDOUS balance which is an underrated attribute, and he obviously has a tough running mentality. I really like Cedric and I think he has the chance to unseat Martin this year.

jet fans checkout houstons medical history.while playing for tennessee he was suffering from a thyroid condition which limited hisstaying power.you can bet your bottom dollar that since the jets medical discovered the problem and gave him the proper medication.he is healthy again and will show that he would have been a top pick if he was healthy at the time.the jets got a bargain in houston.
