I would love to see what the Idzik lovers on here would say if we got Joseph.

It would be an unjustified move..and quite frankly really un-Idzik like. He's shown ability to not panic all summer long so I'd guess this report is bogus.

I dont expect the trade but I've been let down by this team before.

Cant expect much more than a depth signing at this point. Some decent names out there but nothing that will make a huge difference.

Any trade that was gonna be made should've been made a month ago. Too late for anyone to come here and be ready to roll from Week 1.

I would be happy with a Jonathan Joseph trade only if he's willing to restructure his large contract. There's no way Jets should handle all that money just for JJ. He's not a shutdown corner. Could have got Revis on an equivalent one year deal for that money.

Would be happier with Jason Mccourty trade

I was saying during FA we should trade for Joseph, again after the draft, again after the injury bug, and yet again after watching Patterson and Wilson completely suck.
A stop gap veteran CB like Joseph is exactly what this teams needs.
He's a top 10-12 CB in this league when healthy, although health has been a concern. He's also very good at press, a good teammate and leader for that young group.

2 years left on his contract. 7.5M this year, 8.5M next. those numbers are not crazy.
    he'd be a 2 year stop gap.

the only question to me is what would we have to give up in return?
can't give away too much for a 2 year player....but we are pretty desperate.

that cap number factors in the prorated portion of the signing bonus Houston gave him.
actual pay is 7.5M this year, which isn't too high for a player like him. He's a guy you can leave on an island.

The Texans know he's a goner next year as a CAP Casualty. The Jets traded Revis for similar reasons...it devalues their leverage. I think that the Texans would accept a conditional 4th for Joseph. We'd also be absorbing his contract. I'd still like JJ to restructure.

I don't see him worth that type of money. But I'd still do it since we're desperate. A conditional 4th and I would be happy.

7.5M puts him at the 15th highest paid CB in the league.
i believe he is a top 10-12 CB when healthy. To me, only questions are his health, and what it will cost in trade compensation.

i'd consider a 4th rounder if we couldn't package in a player instead.

Yea...I don't see him as a top 10-12 CB. I also don't see him staying healthy. He hasn't played all preseason with his injury.

agreed, health is the major question mark.
in 2011 he was an All-Pro. made the pro bowl in 2012, but had groin issues and hernias plaguing him.
last year, he played thru a toe injury which eventually landed him on the IR in December. still managed to grade out as the 21st rated CB by pro football focus despite the injury tho.

I'd need to know his current health status as he didn't play in preseason.
If healthy, it's reasonable to think he could at least match last years 21st rating, especially behind our Dline. that would be a huge upgrade for us, without any long term financial commitment.

I don't think they take a chance on an injured guy. That's what got them in this mess. If JJ went down...the fan base would riot with pitchforks. I really like the prospect of McCourty better.

Jason McCourty is taller, stronger, bigger, and faster than JJ.

    He's a 2009 6th rounder (so it shouldn't require much to trade).

i would consider McCourty too if he was available. are the Titans shopping him?

btw, they are the same size, but Joseph ran a 4.3 40. not sure where you are getting the bigger, stronger, faster stuff from.
only thing McCourty has on Joseph is being 3 yrs younger.

Thank you, was just about to post this. The $11.25M is Houston's cap number and they would shave $3.75M off their cap with a trade, it would only cost them the $7.5M but he is scheduled to make $8.5M next year. At 30 years old with injury concerns I am a little tossed up but the Jets may be a little under the gun due to their own injuries.

I hope neither of those 2 things happen, but you are probably right.

    JJ ran a 4.31
    Mccourty rana 4.30

    He's also 3 years younger. >>>he's faster

JJ is 5'11" and weights less than Mccourty who is 6'0 and heavier. That's where I got it from.
