Joba getting hurt because his arm wasn't used to the innings? Oooookay. He's been a starter his entire career. His innings were built up slowly.

Kennedy? Unproven, fine. Did you think he would be AS bad as he was? If not, your prediction is shit.

And what about losing Wang? You know, the best pitcher on the staff going into the season?

EVERYONE'S bullpen costs them some games during the year. The Yankees had one of the most effective bullpens in the major leagues. If it cost them some games, it cost them FAR fewer than other teams. But, okay, that "mish-mosh" bullpen led to the long season. x 10

You are completely missing the point. "Aging bats" is so vague as to be meaningless. As is the claim of "unproven starters." The "aging bats" on this team performed well. The younger ones did not. That goes against your "prediction." Why not say that the reason the Yankees are going to have a long season because they can't outhit or outpitch the other teams? Or even that "other teams are 'better'."That would have just as much meaning. As it was, you just threw something out there, and hoped that it would stick. In some cases, it did. In others, it didn't. But you'll just pay attention to the ones that support your case. Hello, affirmation bias.

Bullshit, dude. I'm a scientist, by trade. Facts are what I live on. Not some craptastic, shitty predictions based on ideas which - as I said - are so vague as to be meaningless.

AND... here's the most important part, so please try to stay with me... if you recall, the issue I had with your "prediction" wasn't that it was so negative. It was that it was asinine to make that kind of prediction in the first place. I never said it was impossible for the Yanks to suck balls. I was saying that making meaningless predictions like that is akin to gambling blindly. You're not saying anything with any weight. The reality of the situation is that - by all accounts - the Yankees underperformed their expectations (for a myriad of reasons). Play this season over again from April 1st 1,000 times, and 900 times the Yankees finish with 95+ wins. Maybe 50 times they finish with 89 or less. Maybe they even finish with a sub-.500 record a couple of times.

You happened to hit on that 5% chance. I go back to my earlier analogy... the idiot at the poker table who is actually dumb enough to brag about his brilliant play when spiking a one-outer.

I don't dislike devil. I actually like him, except for the fact that he's a Sawx fan.

Cappy, you're a scientist? Cool shit. I don't know anyone who actually refers to themselves as a "scientist".

Yeah, I read that and I was all, "Oh no! He compared me to someone who typically knows what the hell he's talking about!"

Yeah, I work as a molecular biologist at MGH.

But he's a Sawx fan. You have dirty Sawx now. And there's some Boston on your shoes.

Wow. That's pretty kick ass. I just program.
