I've been a fan of both the dolphins and the Jets ever since I started watching football!. I believe I became a bigger Jet fan because I was able to follow the Jets more. Of course, my phins love has subsided considerably since Dan Marino's departure and their subsequent downward spiral.

I understand that often times it can be difficult to root for a team because of geographic reasons and that cheering on your hometown team can be easier. For example, I know a former Mets fan who moved out to Washington (state) and is still a Mets fan, but also goes to Mariners games and roots them on.

But when those teams are in the same division, that's pretty tough to do. I can understand if they play once every four years, but rooting for both sides of the rivalry is pretty inexcusable.

... it's really not that hard when neither one can actually win something tangible. take say for instance the patriots, I was in different towards them prior to their rise to the top. And now, they are about the only NFL team that I don't like. I forgot to mention before that I am a bigger football fan than I am a Jets fan, I am by no means a fanatic, very level headed when it comes to my fandom! I like football and the Jets are my home team!

I know big football fans who root for all AFC East teams. I guess it's possible, certainly not for me though.

Fan of two teams in the same division?

    No.

Besides, why woud you want to put yourself through 25 losses in a 16 game schedule?

I think the poll might be a little a little lopsided.

I say yes. Look at me. I wouldn't say "fan" but I'm a fan of football. And I wish both these teams the best- unless it some how effect the Bucs. Then to hell with them. But since it doesn't I'm all for it. I like the Jets (damn you G), and I grew up in Miami.

But granted, mortal enemies by nature. If I was a solid fan of one I could not see myself caring for the other. However I believe you can be a FAN of one and still have respect for the other.

if you root for the jets you may not root for anyone else in the division. that is just plain wrong. you wanna have a soft spot for an nfc team or a team that has no bearing on the jets then by all means. but never in the division and especially not a true rival such as the dolphins
