It's not the stars, we aren't executing and taking advantage of the opportunities that we receive. The way we play, we deserved to lose those games. I'm not giving up on the Jets going with 9 wins. Doesn't look good right now but things could change. This should be a 8 to 10 win team, if we don't constantly make mistakes we are 2-1. I don't think my expectations were lofty at all, I believed we would fix the turnover issue, but it appears to not be the case.
You based your 8-10 win expectations on last year's performance. You're seeing almost the exact same quality of play you saw last season except for some marginal improvement out of Geno. For the one step forward we took (Sons of Anarchy/Decker), we took 2 steps sideways (Secondary/Geno). We still make the same stupid mistakes we make every year. We still listen to the same soundbites from Rex after every loss that we should have won. We still listen to Geno's "I gotta do better/be better" speech after every bad game complete with his obligatory dumb assed mistakes. Common thread is: We keep doing the same things over and over but expect a different result. We all know what that leads too..
we need a new face, people sometimes gets too afraid to change and get stuck with being average. Rex is very charismatic and thats what keeps him here for so long but it isnt transelating on the field, and btw why he is so submissive towards the league if refs fucked up you should point it out in the post game and say where they screw up and that it had a direct relevance in the game.
This was the year that the Jets were gonna make a push for the playoffs. Last year was the excuse year for Ryan. This year is on his ability to coach this team up and get them to the next level. Better personnel and another year in the system for the key guys on this team. It's not about next year, good franchises don't look that far ahead when a season is just 3 weeks old. Rex needs to win now. 4 straight non playoff seasons doesn't cut it. I predicted 8-8 and it looks like that's where we're heading. And the team is not getting progressively better where you can see improvement every week. It's back and forth and their play is way too inconsistent. It's all coaching at this point and I think it's pretty clear to see that Rex has peaked as a HC. This kind of up and down play has been the only constant through his tenure. If Woody really wants to win a title then bring a stud HC in here like a Kevin Sumlin and he'll right this ship in no time.
We both know if Decker is on the field and healthy for the last 8 quarters of football, there is a very real chance we are 3-0. I'll try and find a stat differential between Geno with and without Decker on the field, I bet it's pretty substantial. If Geno had all of the weapons that EJ Manuel has, he'd be owning right now, I can pretty much guarantee it. Empty guarantee sure, but it's only a matter of time in my opinion.
Doesn't change the fact that he is still making dumb mistakes. His footwork has been poor since Q2 in Green Bay.
I think 8-10 wins is possible, but if we get there it's going to be a hard fought late season push. It's sad that so much falls on Eric Decker being on the field. If he's there to get open all the time and stretch the field some, it allows other guys to get open more as well. I hope he's able to get healthy by Sunday, if not I have a pretty strong feeling we'll be looking at 1-3.
You're right, but I for one expected to see mistakes here and there. I've made a number of posts about last season expressing how important trusting your receivers is, and the difference in his play was obvious when he had both Decker and Kerley out there. What with the drops and fumbles and inconsistent routes from the other guys, no wonder he's holding the ball too long and making mistakes. I do really wish we had picked up James Jones this offseason.
Ur delusional thinking we can won 10 games I'm saying 7 at the most.......we might start the season 1 and 6 after first 7 games
What about sliding a yard behind the line or running out of bounds a yard back......he isn't smart enough to be a good qb
Depends on Milliner but most of all Decker. We have been right in these games to the last minute and I think if Decker was in, he'd make the difference.
The ints he threw yesterday had nothing to do with the weapons.....especially the 2nd on that was a horrible pass
Yeah it was a bad decision, but Nelson didn't come back to the ball or try and break up the pass. We need guys who really get it. A offensive PI call is better than a pick, and Nelson just stood there holding his sack. The same was true for Sudfeld last week, just blow up the DB and take the penalty.
I get you are trying to defend geno but to put any blame on Nelson for that play is ridiculous the ball simply should have never been thrown
