The only team that could ever talk smack were the 85 Bears defensive team, the Jets should shut up and do all their talking on Sunday. They have accomplished nothing!! I know some of us here played or still play organized sports and I love it when a team comes in and talks trash and when the game starts they find out it's not going to be as easy as they thought and end up losing the game.
Talking all that smack after beating a team who has never made the playoffs makes the Jets sound like a team who has never won anything....oh wait a sec....
To be perfectly honest, I don't think that trash talking has much of an affect on football games one way or another. The Jets hate the Pats/want to be number 1 and the Pats hate the Jets/want to be number 1. Both teams have plenty of motivation . . . the trash talking is just stuff for the media to hype. It's bullshit. Meaningless. Of no Consequence, etc, etc
Actually, "any other" means besides, so I wasn't saying Brady wasn't talking trash. Anyway, it doesn't matter. Should be a good game Sunday.
Who cares. Let them talk. Are the Pats going to be more fired up for this game then the Jets because of it? I doubt it. Both teams are going to bring their best. Let them talk if they want to.
Diego really didn't beat him down. it was a pretty damn close fight with 2 scrappy guys going at it. I mean he didn't KO him or sub or anything it was a close Decision. I get your point though.
I shouldn't bother responding to such nonsense, but what the hell - what I'm "scared" of (oooo, I'm soooo scared) is extactly the opposite of what you state - not of change, but of things STAYING THE SAME AS THEY HAVE BEEN FOR 40 YEARS! As I said before, I've heard all this tough talk before, and watched as it all has been shoved back in the Jet's faces on numerous occasions. And each and every one of those times it was "going to be different" and it turned out to be the same ol' Jets. Hey, I hope Rex Ryan has changed things, and I hope this is the beginning of something, but let's see some results before we get all hot and bothered. And I'm not sure firing up the team that has kicked your ass for 10 years is the way to go. I'm sorry if this is beyond your comprehension.
As someone else pointed out in another thread, almost every "expert" picked the Jets to finish last in the AFC East anyway. So why not do a little smack talking? At the very worst we'll turn out to be as bad as everyone thought.
here just posted this in another thread but its totally related so here. the pats always bring it. thats why this team has bravado now. i dont get this whole media buzz about us being cocky. its called being confident in your ability to play the game. furthermore, you cant be the best until you beat the best, and thats why we bash the pats more than anyone else, its out of respect for the wins they generate. although if Bellicheck caught fire id prolly watch him burn. i think hes a shitty excuse for a human being. but a masterful coach lol. the Jets are prepared to back it up. thats what all the talkings for. these are grown ass men raising the bar for themselves by putting the expectation of beating the pats out there before kickoff. now its time for them to man up and deliver, or simply say "the better team won today" if the Jets happen to lose. the pats are comfortable and used to winning, you have to be gracious (at least in interviews) when you win that much otherwise the whole team gets pegged as arrogant. thing is, the jets havent proven shit to anyone outside of our own fan base. I love the fact that when Rex got here all the enthusiasm and "take a swipe at one of ours and we'll take a swipe at two of yours"; Jets fans ate it up. and all of a sudden that same enthusiasm and bravado hasnt slowed down a bit, and now that its the regular season more Jets fans would rather matter of factly talk about how good there team is, instead of knowing we have a good team now. specifically a good team thats well aware of their capabilities and set the bar for ultimate success. save being humble for when you lose and shake the other guys hand and tell the cameras the we just didnt cut it out there, or they got us today. but until then, theres nothing wrong with letting the opposing team know. win, lose, or draw. you just got hit with everything we got and youll feel it till kickoff next week. everyone wanted an identity for this team, now we have one, and the fact that its bold and in your face has some of you backpedaling into a closet. id rather have a team that KNOWS they can win every game, EVERY week. and lets people know. rather than the final product weve been forced to watch since Parcells up and left. and if we lose, I'll chalk it up to a great effort on our part and an even better effort from the patriots. either way I find nothing wrong with exuding confidence. and kerry rhodes can say what he likes, hes the one who will be out there against the pats defense. and in the end, come Monday, all that will matter is the Titans. that and their will either be a huge explosion of "Rex Ryan is the man!" or "Maybe they Can Learn to Win First" threads. point in case, alot of pre-pats analysis used to be "i HOPE we can" , "i HOPE (player x) can do this" now the talk is "were gonna be in brady's face", "its our time to take them down" yeah, last time i checked confidence is never a bad thing. especially in sports. and if you guys think Rex Ryan will let them get over-confident i think your sorely mistaken.
too bad i think its probably the most level headed explanation to the 10 plus pages of arguing. in both of those threads lol
That was a great post, man, I especially agreed with the bolded parts. You forgot, though, if we lose, there will also be plenty of 'Fire Rex' and 'Sanchez is a BUST' threads on Monday.
NO. You STFU. It's called having class and some good sportsmanship. "We want to embarass them, make them feel bad..." all that shit is classless and cowardly especially before the game. Keep your mouth shut and go win the game and hit the QB 20 times, but you don't need to announce it like a Professional wrestler. It's weak.
