Sounds scared to death to me. That's why you don't hear them talking shit.

^Mr. Brady is exactly right. And as someone else mentioned, when you hear a team talking so much smack, to beging to think that they are trying to convice themselves; that they don't have the confidence they claim. The superbowl is in January, this is week 2 of the 09 season. I hope they are as confident as they claim, I hope they rip the Pats guts out. However, as Winstonbiggs pointed out - the ultimate is to kick their ass and act like its not a big deal - thats how you show confidence.

Here, let's look at Patsfans and see what they're saying about it:

    http://www.patsfans.com/new-england...0-kerry-rhodes-we-want-embarass-patriots.html

There is fear in the language of their posts. 'IF the Jets win' - 'the Jets are supposed to win' - 2 years ago that would have been 'HAHAHA we're going to beat them by 50 points'. They are the ones that need to be scared. Not us. This is the lowly Jets. We're used to losing, right? Hell with that, it's time to hit them in the mouth and stand over them as they bleed. No more of that half-assed nonsense.

They have never said that they will win the game but only that they will go out and do all they can to win. Your an idiot if you don't think confidence won't help them. What's wrong with trying to give the fans the same confidence.

Saying you want to embarrass your opponent doesn't show intensity and focus it shows emotion. Football is a tough game and there is a thin line between being intense and focussed and being emotionally out of control.

Great football players are intense and focussed. Really hot girls who break your heart are emotional and out of control.

Being a fan of the Steelers for my entire lifetime I am familiar with the Ravens. The Ravens always talk crap during Steelers/Ravens week. I like that Rex is allowing his players to talk. The more the Jets talk the more they have to leave it on the field Sunday. You can't talk smack during the week then not show up on Sunday. The Jets are going to be ready to play this game and I can't wait to watch the change of power happen in the AFC East.

It's nice to see an outside perspective on it. Someday maybe the majority of Jets fans will see it your way as well.

Actually, I am somewhat serious. If you watched the game Monday night he looked very uncomfortable..almost scared..and that whole thing with Suzy what's her face at the end was just weird..it was like he was trying to not throw up.

There's a lot of chicken-shit people on this board. What are they really scared of? To look bad in front of their Patriots friends? Even if we lose 3-0, and we play our asses off, people will recognize it. If the Jets smack Brady all over the field and they play their hearts out, you guys are still gonna look down in shame? Get over yourselves. This team is bigger than how your 'fan-hood' is gonna be viewed among the rest of your football peers.

Cut loose. Be confident in your team. Believe in them. I know this is new to many of you, but sometimes you have to dare to be great. This is our 1st chance to do just that this season. Stop getting fucking scared.

I'm a big beliver that pro athletes shouldn't be babied and should be able to say whatever they want to say. One thing I have always noticed about people who talk smack. It's usually a personality thing that has little to do with backing it up or not. They either talk smack or they don't. I have seen plenty of players getting their asses kicked all game long talking smack all game long.

Kerry Rhodes pretty much crossed the line for me. He should keep his mind on the game and not have that little seed in the back of his head that he said he wants to embarrass them.

    It smells.

Why? Didn't they want to embarrass us in the second game of '07 after spygate? Seems I remember reading they wanted to score 100 points against us and while no individual may have said it publicly it was certainly reported everywhere that was want they wanted to do.

Good for Rhodes..I am sure he means it too.

You know what...I like the confident talk! I love the "smack". If you shit in one hand and hold how much the league respects the Jets in the other which do you think will fill faster? I don't give two rats asses what the Patriots or the rest of the league thinks. Wear that confidence on your sleeve! I'm sooooooo sick of all this PC bullcrap! You got something to say...say it! Let me tell you...back when I played, words are just that words. Do you REALLY think that what Rhodes or Ryan or any of them say actually makes Brady throw any better or Faulk run any different? Hell no it doesn't!!! That war of words may work in High School but it is nothing in the Pro's...you get PAID to give your best every week...no matter whether something is said or not. Sooooo...if the Jets want to serve notice I say go for it! I watched BOTH games this past opening week...and let me tell you what...from a VERY trained eye...the Patriots better get their collective head out of their asses or this will not only be a Jets win...this will be a beat down of epic ass whupping proportions. The Patriots do NOT have a Mario Williams...nor do they have a legitimate ass whupping linebacker anymore...that left with Mayo...Mark my words...this could be a classic mugging...and I say could because we all could be wrong...what we saw last weekend from the Jets could have been that opening day fluke. But I don't think so. In fact, if you go back and look at ALL 16 games...there were only a small hand full that were full on out ass whuppings...and NONE of them as convincing as the Jets. "climbing down off my soapbox now"

    Peace!!!

    The Mezz

The problem with the Jets has been they DO talk smack and they DON'T show up on game day. The last time I can remember the Jets talking smack and backing it up was Joe Willie in '69. In the intervening years, they've talked shit about Miami, Buffalo, Oakland, and a few other teams, and then had their asses handed to them. Until they prove it on the field, this looks like just more of the same. Kick ass, then talk. Alot better then the usual talk and then get ass kicked.

How about we destroy these guys in every facet of the game and put our stamp on the AFC East! Then ill be O.K. with as much trash talk as these guys want to spew. Its Karma where talking about here and its a powerful force that will slap you right back in the face. Example (2007-8 patriots) "Missed it by that much"!

I hope we didn't even bother to show up for that game. U know how it is around here, if the Patriots say so, it'll be so. No questions asked. Just take the ass-whooping with a smile and ask for more.
