no, The Jets, CANNOT, and WILL NOT, shut up. I dont think you understand what the team is doing, so if you dont wanna be a part of it; go find a mime troupe to cheer for.

fuck the pats were gonna kick their fuckin teeth in. how about that?

Totally agree. There have been many teams much better than the Jets that have talked smack about the Pats (like the Steelers on a couple occasions) and looked pretty ridiculous after getting beat down.

I just don't get it - do the Jets think they can intimidate the Pats by their tough talk? Have they really accomplished so much to be mouthing off like this?

It doesn't matter who says what, the better team usually wins. If the Jets are better, they will win, if not, than the Patriots will win.

That's old school, too. But after suffering through a year where NO ONE was allowed to show :

    1.) any emotion

    2.) any fire

    3.) any PERSONALITY

, well....I prefer what I'm seeing and hearing now than what I heard last year(*crickets*).

Not necessarily. The Bills were better Monday and lost. I know 2 different teams, but the Pats have some sort of knack winning games they should lose.

The Dolphins talked trash last season before the first game they played last season, and they came in and destroyed the pats that game.

I think if the Jets were considered one of the elite teams you wouldn't be hearing this at all. They have already said they don't like the way the media is treating them and they are letting people know. Good for them, the more the merrier. They have absolutely nothing to lose. They will win or lose based on how they play, not on what they say.

Showing up your opponent is a personality disorder. Emotion, fire and personality in pro sports is about the play on the field.

What's the point in saying you're going to beat a team? To put more pressure on yourself through the media to do it?

If they need to convince themselves with words that they're going to win, I think they're not as sure as they want to be.

    Sunday all words will end.

How is showing emotion, fire, and personality "showing up the other team"?

Where do you come up with this stuff, man? I WAS SICK AND TIRED OF WATCHING A BUNCH OF DAMN ROBOTS LAST YEAR AND I'M HAPPY THAT THEY ARE ALLOWED TO COME OUT OF THEIR MANGINI-INDUCED SHELL FINALLY!!

    SHOW SOME EMOTION!1

    TALK TRASH!

    GET....FREAKIN....EXCITED....TO PLAY FOR ONCE!!!

    Go Jets.

I agree with your "old school" take. We must be from the same generation: "Speak softly and carry a big stick." It's better than trash talking and then getting your ass kicked. How foolish is that?

I have no problem with doing either on the field on game day.

Like you posted in one of your early contradictory posts in this very thread....like Frank Mir talking shit about Brock Lesnar, then getting his head handed to him on a platter.

"We follow the lead of our head coach. We expect to go out and play well so to go out there and make a bunch of predictions, 'We're gonna do this' and 'We're gonna do that' and 'This is how we're gonna be' it really doesn't mean much. We feel if we do our work and go and play to our abilities the outcome will be what we are hoping for. If not, it won't be no matter what you say on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday."

This is all about attitude change. It's been said before that the Steelers have talked shit, the Ravens have talked shit, and the Patriots have come in and beaten them. Do they look silly? Yeah, probably. Do their fans think their defense will all of a sudden crawl under a rock (or turtle as one once put it) and stop talking for the rest of the season? Hell fucking no.

The overall message we're trying to send the league is, this isn't the same ol' Jets. We're going to be the best defensive team out there or die trying. We're gonna make you earn that W. If you do, good for you. But it's gonna be a battle til the end. I know I've seen it before on this board, but many were happy if, as long as we went 8-8 but teams left the field bruised and battered, we'd be satisfied with that. So, why not ruffle some feathers? This attitude is supposed to be from the coaches, down the players, down to the fans. Now everyone is getting scared about looking bad in the process to the Patriots and the rest of the league. Fuck em. Fuck em all. Let them do their thing and let us do ours.

You mean to tell me you don't say things like this to yourself? Or are you just referring to making comments in the media?

I do professional rock crawling in a tube buggy. Sick shit. When I'm about to attempt a crazy obstacle, I go into it telling myself and my spotter that I got it. That I'm going to make that gate. I don't just do it. I believe that I'm going to do it, I say I'm going to do it and I do it.
