Do you mean he’s better than anyone we have right now or better than anyone since he’s been here? Because if we’re talking just right now that’s damning with faint praise my friend. OTOH, if you think he is better than, say, MoWilk was when he actually showed up, then that’s saying something. Not sure I’d agree, but then again sometimes MoWilk seemed to play like someone’s who’d bought tickets to see the game and didn’t want to spoil watching the game by getting to involved in plays.
Your clarification question is fair. Yes, I meant he is the best DL from the time he got on the Jets’ roster to present.
I think that he will have a really good year with the addition of another Williams this year. Wait and see.
Drafting Quinnen was the best thing that could happen to Leonard in a contract year. He faced dbl teams on about 80% of his snaps, even higher on pass plays. With Quinnen playing next to him demanding his own dlb teams, Leonard will see only single coverage on more than half his snaps for the first time in his NFL career. His production numbers will sky rocket. And the Jets will pay dearly.
Teams have the ability to and have retracted unsigned franchise tags very late in the offseason before. So I was wondering if it were possible to retract a option year.
I'm a fan. Perhaps they should count sacks and things like that instead of paying $14.2 million for hidden production garbage. And the term hidden production came into existence after this scrub got completely shut out on the stat sheet against the Browns.
There are no contract terms on the option. It's a league rule and the player has no say. The option was picked up last year, April 2018. The team could have rescinded the option up until the first day of this league year , March 13th.
It's not a bad thing, worst case he walks next year, better case he shines this year, gets tagged and traded, best case him and Q Williams thrive and become long term anchors on a dominant D line for years
