McGinest can't possibly be the best option out there can he? can't there be someone who is young enough to be able to cover the flats, and rush the qb effectively?
I wouldn't have thought so. How old is he now ? He might have the experience but I'm pretty sure father time must have caught up with him. If hes being brought in for inspiration , lets get Teddy Atlas in
You're infantilizing him. I already said it. He knew what he was ingesting, and again, how do you get steroids over the counter? Forget it. The more I think about it, the more the Jets investment over an idiot bothers me. Lots 'o money, don't know what I'm taking. OK. Now he'll have to redeem himself and all of that mess, but his career will never be the same. Tell me who wouldn't have been horrified if Leon Washington had been on that list of infamy for sure?
like i said i am sure that you have done something that would have endangered your employment. i dont agree with what he did. i dont like having a guy from a team i root for get caught doing drugs. really though he is a football player we are taking it awfully personally that he will not get paid for 4 games. its almost like he took money out of your pocket.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/07/02/calvin-pace-suspended-four-games/ I've seen it mentioned in at least seven different articles. The ONLY place the word 'steroids' is being left out, is the official Jets site - but stay tuned for that during damage control.
Anybody have a list of respectable FA linebackers out there? Trying to think of guys that are out there that haven't been heavily discussed... Boss Bailey - recovering from microfracture surgery Morlon Greenwood - ???
That doesn't say he was taking them. Many supplements contain trace elements, which are still deemed illegal in pro sports, but actually do next to nothing for performance or body mass. I'm willing to give CP the benefit of doubt before we all throw him under the bus.
He was caught using a substance that people normally use to loose weight (so nothing bad there). The problem is that this substance also has the ability to hide the use of steroids. This is way it's banned. No one can tell for sure if CP was/is using steroids but IF he was this substance would hide it from controls....
Yes... Ps what I don't know is... do all diuretics have this effect (of masking steroids) or just some of them?
From the National Strength and Conditioning Association: http://www.nsca-lift.org/Education/NPEDP/maskagents.shtml Diuretics: Diuretics have been placed on the prohibited list for some time because of two reasons: 1) they facilitate weight loss via their ability to enhance rapid water loss via urine excretion and 2) they have the potential to rapidly dilute the urine by increasing renal flow. When utilized as a "masking" agent diuretics dilute the urine, which results in lower levels of the banned substance being excreted from the body. This can therefore make it more difficult for the laboratories conducting doping controls to detect. I figure given that reasoning, it would depend on the diluting strength of the diuretic... but knowing the NFL, they probably have all detectable diuretics listed as bannable.
Most diuretics have the ability to mask stuff but some are so common that it would be impossible to ban them, such as caffeine. The ones they ban are the more obscure ones that were specifically engineered to mask performance enhancers and other illegal substances or are very potent at it. But good luck there are so many sophisticated chemists working on this stuff that are probably 2-3+ generations ahead of the drug testing labs on both the steroids and masking agents. Usually the way they find them are some disgruntled lab worker or coach gives a sample.
