Chris Long IS NOT A 34 END he's a linebacker in the 34 he is 270+ it would be stupid for any team to play him at end because he is too small for it.Most 34 ends are 300+ the smallest being at 290.
His one productive year also happened to be his only year in a 3-4 scheme, in which he put up some impressive numbers. Also keep in mind the team he has played for. There's a such thing as the "Zona effect" in this league. players who leave Zona have a habit of turning into much better players and reaching their potential after leaving. At the very least he adds size, decent pass rushing ability, depth and allows BT to move back to weakside where he flourished.
I think in a 34 he would have to play linebacker. Ideally his best position would be 4-3 strong side end. Another Patrick Kerney. His talent may be waisted at linebacker. Gholston from day one at weakside linebacker in a 3-4 would be a headache for offenses. The question would be can he learn how to play linebacker in the NFL, maintain his gap against the run and cover tight ends and running backs.
Is this Pace stuff true? He is real good. Rotoworld and rototimes yesterday said he signed with Miami?
He's a Hybrid...he's so versatile that he can basically rotate through every position in the 3-4 front seven (except nose) and be effective.
Yeah, he signed with Miami... Just like Faneca signed with the Jets... The deal is in black and white, its just not signed yet, I have a GOOD FEELING thats the Jets are gonna steal Pace from the Dolphins and put him in Green and White
Rotoworld also said that Shaun Rogers was traded to Cincy...when really, he was traded to the Browns. It's all rumors until the guy actually signs.
No Pace For The Jets Apparently CNNSI is reporting he is signed with the fins http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/football/nfl/02/29/dolphins.pace/index.html I for one knew nothing about him and i do not see this as anything big.
That report was from last night and he's meeting w/ the Jets today. He may sign w/ the dolphins but I doubt he already did if he's meeting w/ us today.
Pace is like the perfect OLB in the 3-4, there is a reason why BP's and Mangini (Both 3-4 defensive coaches) are going after this guy.... 98 tackles, including 6 1/2 sacks last year, thats the reason... He's a playmaker
go to profootballtalk.com...that report is false, check the Arizona website, Pace texted the webmaster guy for the page and told him its not true, he is on a helicopter ride as we speak...
"Pace's signing leaves Joey Porter's status with the team in limbo after being the team's marquee signing a season ago." So what does that mean?
It means, like ESPN did the with Faneca, that they jumped the gun on reporting this. At least thats what Fin fans and the Miami Herald seems to think.
