Sorry I don't what the term "fanboy" implies.

I just don't like Bulger, never have. What has that guy ever done? What his major accomplishment? Hold a clipboard in the Super bowl? He might be an ok backup qb. I just don't like him! What specifically can he teach Sanchez?

bulger has been a starter in the league for a few years now. before the rams totally sucked he had a few good years. he has more game experience than anyone on the roster. that experience is a useful thing to have around.

We need a veteran QB on this team for sure. Kellen Clemens proved how ineffective he was last season.

I would be THRILLED if they brought in Marc Bulger as a backup and mentor. He has plenty of big game experience and has been around the league and worked his way to the top from a late round pick. Definitely would be a fantastic move.

any former starting qb who has had good success passing the ball and still has the ability to play at a decent level in a pinch will do.

I believe this was the comment:

I think Garcia does. He damn sure plays better than Bulger. (IMO)

I'm done with this post anyways. Nice thread though I appreciate everyone's opinion even if I don't agree with it.

I always like Bulger, and he did have some success when Warner was finally out of the picture. That Rams organization went tohell after a few years, so I'm sure he would be thrilled to get a spot on a winning team on it's way up.

Once he learns at least some of the playbook, I would be a hell of a lot more comfortable with Bulger stepping in rather than Clemens, especially if Sanchez went down for multiple games. The guy knows how to stand in the pocket and get the ball downfield. That is a must for this offense. Sanchez didn't have to throw alot, but his percentage of long balls when he did throw must have been way up there compared to the rest of the league. Bulger has proven he can do that.

I can't imagine the Jets could even get a 7th for Clemens. His only NFL playing time has been pitiful. He will either stay on as a backup (if he signs his tender, last I hear he hadn't but maybe that changed) or fade away in the night.

For the record, I never thought Bulger was a good qb---too many picks.
I would say he doesn't have anything left in the tank, but i never thought there was much in the tank...so especially nothing left now. And as for a mentor roll, I never thought he was a great decision maker...I'm not sure how he handled preparation or whatever, but I'd be much more comfortable with Ainge or O'Connell as the backup. Our FO has seemed interested in him in the past...so it wouldn't be surprising, but I don't think he would be much of an addition.

    I'm not fond of Bulger.

But to the guy who said Sanchez has accomplished more than Bulger...no.

I would rather have someone like...

Edit: actually as I am typing this...I like the idea of Bulger more and more if he'd take low money.

But with the team we had last year id feel more comfortable with someone who has more game experience to run our offense, aka ground and pound. We dont need a great passer our run game is the workhorse of our offense. If, god forbid, something happened to sanchez someone with some real game experience would be able to slide right in and run the show and wed still be pretty successful.

As far as the mentor thing, i dont really care about that aspect of it.

I dont think Sanchez needs a mentor. A set of veteran eyes from the sideline yes, but not a mentor
