If Lincoln Kennedy had anything to say about it, you'd be calling Honest Abe Lincoln one hell of a liar.
The one fact that many are not grasping is that coaches have time to focus on the starters the most...it's common from the NFL to High School. If you were the coach of the NY Jets and you had to prep for next week, you would care less about your backup DE especially when you have two packages for your two probowlers....
After no OLB was drafted, it's pretty obvious that Tangini has their faith at OLB put in Bryan Thomas. I personally believe that now that he is no longer in JAbe's shadow, he can flourish. As arsenal stated above, he will most likely be a starter now, and recieve the attention that a starter deserves.
u know way too much about bryan thomas, like seriously, thats a problem lol. but neway, your analysis was very insightful, and i hope bryan comes along and develops into a threat as a defensive end or linebacker for the next 5 or so years. however, you wont see a defensive end of john abraham's caliber wearing green and white any time soon.
2 seasons ago when DH was experimenting w/ the 3-4 BT saw alot of time at OLB during the preseason. He looked awfully awfully good in the games as well as in practice. I distinctly remember many posters going to TC and raving about how BT looked at OLB. He does have some interesting skills for the position and has always been good at shedding blocks in the running game. It isnt inconcieveable that he could turn out to be very good for us at that spot. Only time will tell.
We're just going to have to see if Mangini can teach the kid not to suck at football so much. As stated above, I appreciate the amount of effort you put into this post and applaud your effort to contribute something worthwhile in the midst of Sperm Edwards and Kellen Clemens is the best QB in football threads. That being said I couldn't disagree with you more. I don't care if Thomas had good workout numbers, on the field he's not 1/3rd of the defensive end that Abraham is. People assume that because he is big that he is a good run stopper. From what I've seen he's no better at that than he is at pass rushing. He's a fairly good guy for the defensive line rotation, because he's just good enough that opposing tackles have to pay a little attention to him when he enters the game. He was definately Bradway's worst pick though.
I've been a BT supporter in the past. I think a move to OLB can revive his career... I'm pulling for him. We know for fact that he's solid against the run and is strong as hell, which will help the process.
