Okay then, what kind of rating would you give to Rich Kotite? If you say 0/10, then that's just plain silly. You give two coaches who got the Jets over .500 once upon a time a low score of 1/10 and 2/10, then give the worst coach in Jets history a score just a bit below that... With this kind of score, Parcells would get maybe what: 3/10? Maybe less, since he made the playoffs only once in three years. This is why people defend coaches like Edwards and Mangini. Cheap shots like this. At least Herm got the Jets the divisional title! Yeah, it was cheap--but he got it. So all you Herm haters have to tell me what other coaches managed this seemingly easy feat...
Well, what about Joe Walton? He did get the Jets into the playoffs a few times... And Walt Michaels? Bruce Coslet? Were they better or worse than Herm Edwards? I don't think many message board posters were around for those years.
Which must make you, kind sir, the most brilliant poster of all, since you have graced us all with your illustrious and most illuminating response! Brilliant!
Good point. How did it compare to Eric Mangini's gum-chewing? Obviously, the nose-picking was so much more interesting... Or Bruce Coslet's "sad face" looks, as his team self-destructed? Of course not. And obviously, there are many fans of Herm Edwards "WTF is going on?" Face of Panic during key moments of Jets games... I guess the Joe Walton Nose Pick beats them all! I'm so glad this thread turned into a true dissertation on what made the New York coaches matter the most to Jets fans.
A 'dissertation'. Haha, this is way too easy. Are you gonna stab yourself in the eye with a plastic picnic fork next? Methinks this already belongs in the stinky forum.
Couldn't agree more. We can retire the internets. Their mission is now complete. I hope Herm uses the next year just to restock his material. . . . trust me - it's not a train. . . . and then the dog's riding in the car with you. . . . the address is Park Avenue. . . got a stamp on it and everything. . . we get to go to the playoffs. . . . but I never caught a chicken. . . . and that's why I always tell my son - don't forget to sweep the corners. <sigh> I'm nostalgic.
