If we're bringing people back, I think we should bring back Freeman McNeil as running back. It'd be less painful to watch.
Shottenheimer got fired for making the playoffs, making the playoffs isn't the goal. The Jets didn't build anything under Herm he left the team in shambles in 5 years. He went to a deteriorated in his 5th year. Great HC come in to crummy programs and build something. Herm destroyed what was built and he did it agian in KC. He took over a 9 & 7 team and a 10 & 6 team and in 8 years has a regular season coaching record of 54 & 74 and he is 2 & 4 in the playoffs.
Holy crap, do I even need to tell you just how bad this thread is? Please don't ever start a thread again.
Heh! Crap? You'll have to be more specific. You mean narratives really are not that important? It was my anecdotal observation that many Chad Fans also loved Herm. Maybe that was crap.
Funny, for a guy who hates Chad you bring him into every topic, even when he isn't there. Let it go, man. He's getting MVP votes elsewhere now.
Correction. He got them BEFORE he melted down in the Ravens game. Afterwards? Not so much. Another correction is I don't bring him into every topic. Only when relevant, necessary and in an entirely appropriate fashion.
He left the team in such shambles that the only year we made the playoffs w/ the next coach was the next year w/ mostly leftover players from that regime. What was built that herm destroyed. let's see in both NY and KC he inherited teams that missed the postseason 2 straight years and he guided both teams there in his 1st year- what did he destroy?
We made the playoffs with a mostly revamped squad. With the exception of Vilma, Cotch and Rhodes, there wasn't a quality starter that is better than a JAG that Herm brought in and left. Pennington, Ellis and Coles were brought in by the previous regime. You're talking about the brilliant McCariens, Baker, Barrett, Robertson, Hobson, Eric Coleman, Houston, BJ Askew, Thomas, Blaylock, Justin Miller, Mike Nugent. What they left behind after 5 years was a joke. Herm did okay but he had the goods and didn't build squat.
No, Herm never has anything to do with something wrong that happens with the teams he coaches. He never had any clock management issues, he never made any bad personnel decisions, he had nothing to do with what players were chosen for the team that he is the head coach for, and he has nothing to do with the in-game decisions that are usually made by a HC. Unless, of course, those things worked. As far as talent goes, he always had the worst talent and coached them up masterfully, and deserves all of the credit for any modicum of success they had. But when they failed... well, there's some reason other than Herm.
I agree %100. Herm did absolutely nothing in his three years here, and his three years in KC, instead of drive the franchise into the ground. There is no way he should even be considered for any coaching position.
